Jim and Anya were a crucial part of his identity as a Blood Prince and were destined to play crucial roles in the future of his Blood Kingdom.
Now that they were gone, it left a massive gap that he wasn't willing to spend more time or energy refilling. So instead of doing the former, he decided to ask Gravax for help retrieving the two Blood Acolytes from the Ethisians.

At first, Ace tried to make sense of Jim and Anya's disappearance. Before jumping to harsh conclusions, he assumed Gravax had done something to their Blood Genes. After all, the Granian was known for performing questionable scientific procedures on the humans.
