“Here, I made you some tea. Maybe it’ll help calm you down a bit.” Rika places down a cup.
“Thanks Rika.” Keiko takes the cup and takes a sip. “It’s good, but it can’t match my mood.”
“Do you want to talk about it?” Rika knows something pretty serious must have happened. As it’s not common for Keiko to call her crying and begging her to come spend the night with her.
“Not really to be honest, but I owe you an explanation.” She shifts slightly but remains huddled with her feet to her chest as she sits in the center of her bed. Rika sits on the bottom edge.
“You don’t owe me one, but I’d like to hear it if you’re willing. I won’t even talk. I’m simply here to listen. I can’t do much for you Kei, but I can at least lend you an ear in trying times.”
“Thanks Rika.” She smiles slightly. “So, you remember how I told you that I suffered at the hands of my step-sister during my childhood, but never really went into details about how?”
