Josef Lowell steps inside like he owns the place, his white clergy robes brushing softly against the carpeted floor, the light catching on the gilded trim of his mantle. He shuts the door gently behind him and turns, smiling faintly. “I saw Hunter Agent Erwin leaving just now,” he says, voice smooth as velvet. “Rather serious expression. I trust everything is well, Chancellor?”
Albert doesn’t rise from his desk. “He came to report something. Urgent, but manageable.”
Josef takes a few steps further into the room, hands clasped loosely behind his back. His smile widens, predatory in its restraint. “That wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with the intriguing little girl Nadia has taken under her wing, would it?” His expression is teasing.
Albert’s brow furrows. His silence is confirmation enough. “What do you want from me?”
Josef’s grin grows cold. “Relax. I didn’t come for answers. I came to give you some, in fact.”
