Ye Wanting jumped back in shock.
Yaen Chi grabbed her arm and pulled her back, simultaneously taking two steps back, letting go only after she regained her balance.
"Sorry, I was walking too fast. My apologies."
He spoke first, taking responsibility for the mishap. Ye Wanting's words got stuck, and her mind went blank for a moment. Luckily, she noticed Yin Tao, who followed them in, standing politely and restrainedly to the side.
"Qianqian's fever has gone down. This bottle is almost finished, and there's another one. Once that's done, she can go home."
Yaen Chi nodded, "How much longer?"
"About forty minutes."
"Alright," he glanced at Ye Wanting, "how long have you been here?"
"Huh?"
If you based it on what just happened, it was strictly a doctor-patient family relationship. But Yaen Chi's smile when he spoke added a layer of personal affection.
Ye Wanting clasped her hands behind her back, fingers fidgeting with each other, "Not long."
