Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

A whitish glow manifested before a young man with dark brown hair and blinked repeatedly.

"[Minor Summon – Sword Minion]" The group of light converged next to that voice and took the form of a person.

He was a swordsman.

Wearing light medieval-style clothing, he was an androgynous person with ghostly beauty.

His entire body glowed evenly in whitish light, emphasizing that he was clearly not a person but some kind of Pseudo-spiritual entity.

That was the Sword Minion.

The Sword Minion that had been summoned by the brown-haired youth, he held his one-handed sword with a steady stance pointing it towards a group of Goblins that was assaulting them.

The Goblins looked alertly at the sudden figure that appeared in front of their target. But before they could think of anything, the Spirit Swordsman closed the distance with the nearest Goblin and swung his sword downward with the intention of cutting the body in two.

He defended with his sword, in an attempt to fend off the incoming attack. But surprisingly his body was easily split as if he was cutting butter.

Causing the Goblin's body to fall to the sides, staining the ground with blood, flesh, and visors.

The goblins who had recovered from the shock of a sudden figure's appearance were caught off guard as their comrade was easily killed by the entity that appeared less than a minute ago.

The Goblin who seemed to be the leader, had become so angry that it seemed to have broken some of its teeth in anger. As he was about to shout an attack order towards the strange entity that killed one of his subordinates, a voice was heard.

"[Intermediate Summon - Minion Army]" A whitish glow manifested from the youth, but unlike the first time, this one was so bright that it seemed to dazzle everyone who saw it.

The group of light converged alongside his words, taking the form of countless humanoid entities. Which carried weapons such as Swords, Spears or Bows. These figures looked powerful, but compared to the first summon, they looked much weaker.

The Spirit Swordsman took control of the summons. He led them into battle, running towards the Goblins in awe at the sudden turn of events.

The strength of the translucent humanoids was enough to fight several greenskins at the same time without seeming to pose much of a problem.

. Even so, one of the Greenskin managed to land a blow on one of the translucent Humanoids, severing its arm. The translucent entity upon receiving a strong enough blow dissolved into particles of light as if it had never existed in the first place.

The Greenskin was surprised by this, only to have his head suddenly impaled with the point of a translucent spear, spilling his brain and parts of his head into hundreds of pieces.

When the Goblin Leader searched for the source of the spear, he found that it came from the human bastard who had caused all of this.

The Goblin Leader was extremely angry.

Slashing the body of one of the translucent entities, he rushed towards the human. If everyone died in this place, she at least wanted to take the bastard who had caused all this with him.

He was quickly stopped by several of those translucent entities, but they weren't even a threat to the Goblin Leader. This was because the Goblin Leader was an Elite Grade variant species, so he was much stronger than the translucent Humans who were only slightly stronger than normal Goblins.

The one that could actually fight and effectively defeat the Goblin Leader, would be the Sword Minion, but he was busy fighting several decently strong goblins, so he didn't have time to help his Master.

The Goblin Leader arrived in front of the human, with a look of anger and hate swinging his sword at the human in an attempt to kill him.

But it easily dodged and summoned various weapons that flew with great speed like remote control weapons towards the Goblin Leader.

The Goblin Leader was surprised to see weapons flying towards him and moving as if they were alive, but he still deflected the translucent weapons' attacks with ease.

While using the summon weapons as disposable weapons was a good idea considering their attack and durability aren't very high, they lacked attack potential and their travel speed was too short to be more than just a momentary distraction.

The Human seeing that his attack failed, He did not show much emotion since this was expected from the beginning. I summon a spear into his hand, using all of his strength I throw the spear like a javelin straight towards the goblin. The goblin was surprised to see the incredibly strong attack coming at him, so it took him a bit more effort to avoid it.

But this was his biggest mistake, since the main attack was never that.

One of the translucent entities appeared behind the Goblin the moment he turned his full attention to dodging the spear. Quickly and before the Goblin could respond, he stabbed his sword in the direction of the Goblin's Chest.

The goblin felt the cold of the sword pierce his chest and destroy his heart, his body rapidly losing strength as blood spilled out. The goblin slightly opened his mouth and said something that no one could understand, but he made all the goblins look in the direction of his leader before starting to try to escape, of course, the translucent entities did not allow it easily, killing them all bit by bit.

When the last Goblin died, all the translucent entities disappeared as if the strength that allowed them to sustain themselves had run out.

The human walked towards the Goblin Leader's body.

I summon a Sword and cut the Goblin's body several times, like he was looking for something.

After cutting for the fourth time, she found something in a part of the stomach, it was some kind of translucent gem that seemed to radiate a mysterious energy.

She put the gem in her pocket. It was then that a message appeared in front of him.

[Side Mission Completed]

[Subjugate Ten Rare Monsters Completed]

[Granting Rewards]

[Congratulations, you have acquired an Attribute Enhancement Card (Copper)]

"Attribute enhancement card??" I ask surprised to see the reward. He was expecting something like a level up, but not a reward to directly upgrade one of his attributes.

[Would the Host like to upgrade any of the Existing Attributes using the Attribute Upgrade Cards?]

"What attributes can I improve?" I ask curious.

[A copper attribute upgrade card will allow you to upgrade any existing skill in one stage. However,

cannot improve any attribute beyond Heroic Level]

"…. Update Summoner's Attribute"

[Order Accepted]

[Wait a moment...]

A few seconds later a message appeared.

[Competition has increased!]

[[Summoner] attribute is getting stronger]

[Proficiency in all Summoner-linked skills receives a slight increase]

[Attribute grade rises from General to Rare]

She was surprised that her quality suddenly improved, but she was incredibly happy about this.

Now there was a chance that her attribute would gain a new ability, and even if it didn't happen,

he would still have an upgrade to his abilities that wasn't bad at all.

[Attribute: Summoner] [Grade: Rare]

[Slightly increases information processing ability]

[■ Weapon Summon: Allows manifesting a magic weapon onto the battlefield]

[■ Minion Summon: Allows you to manifest magical entities onto the battlefield.]

[■ Summoning Pact: Allows you to form a pact with an entity and call it to the battlefield]

He had obtained a new ability. Although it wasn't useful at the moment, maybe if I meet a high-rank monster I can subdue it and force it to make a Summoning Pact, so my combat strength will increase significantly.

Still, it wasn't a bad skill and he might find a future use for it.

Other than that, there was a not inconsiderable slight increase in his original abilities.

So I inspect the properties of his most useful ability.

< Skill Information >

[Skill: Minion Summon]

[Level: 1] [Grade: Intermediate]

[Calls the elemental forces to the battlefield, endowing them with form and strength to fight for those who call them]

[■ Allows magical entities to manifest onto the battlefield]

[■ Summoned entities are tied to the summoner's main species, and they can be summoned with the main weapons of that species]

There wasn't a huge difference in the characteristics of the skills. The only difference is that his skill had advanced to intermediate.

Unlike Attribute Grades, Skill Grades are: Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, Master, and Perfect. In essence it is basically the same, being that this represented the link between the ability and the user of it, being that this would become stronger the higher the classification of the Grade.

But aside from that, they also have their own level that indicates the general strength of the ability, being that the higher the number, the stronger said ability is.

There are numerous ways to increase the Skill Grade, being that this could be increased simply by using the attribute to which it was linked or by using the ability itself constantly.

But the level could only be increased with constant use, so even though the skill's grade was [Rare] its level was much lower.

"Now that I've completed the mission, I should go back to the others," he muttered as he left the battlefield.
