At eight in the evening, Matilda and Reuben arrived at the hospital on time.
The moment Reuben walked into the room, he said excitedly, "We didn't manage to find the culprit, but I repaired all the tires and changed the door to a security door. I've also added surveillance cameras in the backyard. There's no way the thief can sneak into our house anymore!"
Matilda recounted the whole story to Lily, which shocked the latter.
Reuben reassured her, "Don't worry, Lily. We didn't lose anything."
Lily heaved a sigh in relief, and the three of them continued chatting. Nobody noticed that Dylan had pressed his lips into a straight line.
Reuben pulled Dylan to the side and asked, "Dyl, don't you have a job? I remember that you do."
"Yes, I do."
"Then you can go back to work. We don't want to trouble you any longer."
Dylan had a poker face on. After a brief pause, he asked, "Is the door really fixed?"
"Yes."
