Chapter 76 - Chapter Seventy Six

Kayden stared at him. The words echoed in his head, rearranging themselves, trying to make sense.

"He… remembers?" he said at last, voice a low breath, as if speaking too loudly might collapse the moment.

Bryson nodded slowly. "Everything. Before the accident. Before you. Before everything."

Kayden’s fingers loosened on his jacket. It slipped from his grip and dropped soundlessly to the floor. He didn’t move to pick it up. He simply stood there, frozen, his jaw clenched and his expression unreadable.

Bryson took a cautious step forward. "Kayden—"

"No," Kayden said quietly, shaking his head. "No. I’m not going."

Bryson blinked. "What?"

"I said I’m not going." His voice was firmer now. He turned away and walked slowly back to his desk, as if the air had turned heavy. "If he remembers everything, then I have no business being there."
