Chapter 2 - Chapter one

I'LL MEND YOUR HEART

Chapter one

Governor Park seemed rather indifferent today, surprising everyone at the party. Well, everyone except Adele. The man was usually talkative, and even though he handled his affairs precisely excellently, he wasn't the type to appear so distraught at all.

"Perhaps, his marriage life is failing him again." "I don't think so. Maybe a part of his business crashed." "It could be. But I feel it's something else." Adele just rolled her eyes and went to get a drink. She could remember Karen telling her to not drink, but the place was inexplicably boring to death. So,a drink it was.

She walked to a waiter and picked a glass. But he was quick to refuse her. "Ma'am, you're not permitted to drink. I'm really sorry." Adele looked at the glass and sighed. "It's a pity then." She was about putting the cup down when she heard a low scream. Because of the music and business chatters, the scream was quite muffled. But she could see what was happening though and smiled at the waiter. "I'll borrow your glass." Then she turned and went in the direction.

"Hey!" The guy holding down a girl looked at her. "What's going on?" He stood up straight. "She was not invited, and here she is, touching everything she sees." Adele frowned. "Did she steal?" He shook his head. "Then let her go." "I'm afraid it's an order." Adele sighed. "Do you really think I'm crazy standing here and talking to you? I said let her go. Now!" This time, before the man could speak, another person spoke first.

"What's causing the ruckus here?" "Mr Governor, she wouldn't let us punish the girl." Governor Park looked at Adele. "Really?" Adele shrugged. "She was hungry. It's just food." He sighed. "Take her away before she causes more damage." Adele was already prepared to defend herself. She threw the wine into one of the men's face the others quickly rushed to him while she grabbed the girl and started to run with her.

They were both laughing hard by the time they stopped to catch their breath. "That was epic." The girl said. "I know right? But hey, you shouldn't let anyone oppress you like that. It was just food. You should learn to protect yourself." The girl nodded. "By the way, I'm Kara. Thanks for your help." Adele nodded just as they noticed the men coming at them again. "Okay, that's it. You should go. Get out of here." Kara frowned. "What about you? Won't they hurt you?" "They won't dare." Kara noticed how she spoke with such confidence and authority. But she smiled and thanked her again before running off.

Adele turned back to the men. She knew exactly where she was going. It wasn't her first time. Sighing she folded her arms and allowed them to arrest her. "You'll pay for this, I swear." The guards only laughed. She said that everytime. But Adele was serious. Seeing their smiles, she sighed frustratedly. "I swear I hate rich people."
