Chapter 6 - Meta Ability (2)

Allen's family was a family of speed force users or speedsters. Barry Allen, also known as the first avatar of the speed force, was the first meta-human gifted with the power of speed. His lineage has continued from the first generation of meta-humans. Thomas Allen, the main antagonist of the story was a speedster like his family members. Honestly, it was one of the strongest abilities with the most substantial potential which was the reason that tempted me to copy it in one of the slots. However, as they say, the higher the risk, the greater the reward. The condition for awakening Speed Force was to get struck by lighting created by the Speed Force. To trigger the Speed Force, I needed to touch a speedster and be in an open field, where I could get struck by lighting.

But before that, I need to deal with the present situation first.

Mansion of Thomas Allen

Living room

--------------

The living room had a mix of classical and modern design—two sofas on opposite sides, two-night lamps on two desks and a table between the two sofas. Two magic circles were drawn on the ceiling to maintain the room temperature.

"Did he say anything about the ones who hired them?" asked Thomas Allen, sipping his tea, hiding the emotions that raged through him. Beside him stood Alfred, holding a tea kettle.

"He gave me a name. He said it was the Smith family," answered Alfred.

"Hm, what do you think, Ray? Should we kill them?"

I was sitting beside my uncle, munching on cookies.

"Do you not want to know why the Smith family wanted to kill me?" I asked.

"To give me a warning?"

"No, to provoke you. However, that is because they don't know who you are, which is why they want you out of their way so that they can grow their business."

"So?"

"But the Assassin Syndicate knows your identity, somehow. So they won't attack you unless they are preparing for war, to kill you, a special class hero, and let Paragon know that they are next."

"You deduced all that from a single name?"

"It's not that hard. The Smith family is a bunch of low-ranks with lots of money. They don't have any combat prowess. This means they would probably hire assassins to do their dirty work."

Both my uncle and Alfred turned silent. They were horrified after watching a five-year-old kid deduce something that even an adult can not solve. They could not believe that a five-year-old kid could do something like that. They were already shocked when they learned about my creations. Before this incident, they thought I was a genius at mechanics and smithing. But now they don't even know what to say anymore.

"Hahaha, you truly resemble my brother." Uncle laughed, patting my head.

RUMBLE

The clouds rumbled loudly as it was raining outside.

"Looks like there is going to be a thunderstorm. A good day to kill some pests, right?" My uncle looked at me and said, "You should go to sleep. You have been through a lot."

I quickly ran, to my room after taking two more cookies from the plate.

"The young master may have a high IQ but is still a child." Alfred laughed.

"I know, and I want him to be like that as long as he can. I don't want to lose any more family members, Alfred. I don't want to lose anyone else, not anymore. I am tired... I am tired of losing my loved ones... I am tired of watching them die in front of me... I am tired of not being able to save them. Tell me, Alfred, why? Why does this happen to me? What have I done to deserve this? Mom and Dad died in an accident trying to stop a fusion reactor from exploding, my big brother died of a random mugger, Kate fell in a coma because a hero failed to save her, and now they are targeting my last family member. JUST WHY?!" Thomas shouted at the top of his lungs, tears started rolling down his cheeks as he held down his head with his hands.

"Master Thomas... your family has always suffered through times like this, at least once in their lives. Many have broken down, many have attempted suicide, and many have died miserably... But those who have pulled through were the real successors. As a butler, I have served your family for centuries but as a friend, I have been by your family's side for eternity. Trust me when I say this nothing hurts me more than losing a precious friend," Alfred kept his left hand on Thomas's shoulder.

"How do you keep going?" Thomas looked at Alfred with tearful eyes.

"I just do. Time didn't heal my wounds. However, it taught me how to live with the pain."

RUMBLE CRACK BOOM

A loud noise came from my room, alerting them as they ran inside my room only to find me knocked out on the floor.
