Mayeux knew that sometimes, Aeryon subordinate like to think too much and scared themselves silly thinking that their actions displeases or pleases the Kan
Sometimes, Aeryon does thing that do have deeper meanings.
Sometimes, what Aeryon said did not have such deeper meanings.
Sometimes, it means what it means.
And Mayeux knows that when Aeryon ask him to stand beside him, he means just that.
"Stand beside him" that is what he means
Mayeux looks at Aeryon while standing beside him. Aeryon is looking at the distant sky. For a moment there is once again only silence between them

For a moment there is tense silence around them. There is no guards here in the pavilion and all the warriors leave this area
