The tension at the minefield that became the couch mounted with every passing second as Lapis threw more bombs around. Almost every word Azure and Lazo said seemed more likely to light the fuse that would blow their discussion into something more dangerous.
Lapis: "But, Azure... If you can't kill that demon, can he kill you?~"
She spoke with a mellow, childlike voice.
Her apparent worry, however, could barely mask her excitement at the thought of such a life-and-death scenario.
Azure: "Fufu! Alkztaer? No way. I'm not too worried about him~"
It was impossible to miss the emphasis she put on "him" at the end of her sentence, but Lapis was the only one who smiled at it. The rest of us pretended not to have noticed.
Azure: "In any case, if being at the top of the power hierarchy were any requirement to making it to the next cycle, Asdrea would walk alone..."
