--This chapter is written using Ellie'sPOV--
I woke up from a nightmare.
My heart throbbed with sorrow and guilt as I struggled to breathe. The air my lungs so desperately claimed burned within my chest.
Before I could make sense of what I had heard, the memories slipped away. The feelings, however, were too strong. They lingered even when creation itself tried to shake them off me.
I couldn't recall anything other than a familiar voice.
A voice I knew, even if I didn't remember it.
A voice that felt so dear to me...
I knew it hadn't tried to hurt me.
Yet, one word overpowered every other thought in my mind.
"Unfair".
It hammered my head with a feeling so overwhelming that tears flowed down my face.
I wanted to rebel against it. I needed to.
Even if deep down, I knew there was nothing I could do.
But I wouldn't accept this acceptance either.
Even if it was meaningless resistance, I forced my eyes to open and faced reality.
I saw Anna standing before me.
