Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 – Hard break-ups: Consequences of vacation affairs.

[Third POV]

Selby stood on the balcony looking at Lucas, not knowing how to answer him, wondering who even told him this. She had only told Fiona about this, and Fiona hadn't had any time alone with Lucas to tell him this, and she wouldn't betray Selby at all.

"Who told you that?" Selby says before bursting out in laughter, "Come on, Lucas, this is just fun, why break the rules we agreed on?"

"But we didn't really agree on any rules when this started, we just did," Lucas reasoned.

"So? We both know this was casual, and we will keep it that way, right?" Selby defended, but the soon as she finished her sentence, tears started rolling off her cheeks.

"Selly? Please be honest, are you in love with me?" Lucas asked firmly.

"What if I were? What are you going to do about it? Lucas?" Selby calmly says with tears flowing nonstop, "Nothing, you can do nothing about it but discard me, so stop asking questions you don't have the answer to."

"I will not discard you," Lucas says, stepping closer, but Selby stepped back, making him respect her boundary and stop, "I will not discard you."

"Do you love me?" Selby asked bitterly.

"I wouldn't say I...."

"Just say not Lucas, see you don't love me, all is left of this affair is to discard me, but I will not let you, you know why, because I will discard you before you could ever do that to me."

She swallowed hard before looking him right in his eyes, eyes she once thought were the most beautiful jewels in the world, were now a symbol of her pain, "This whole sneaking around and sleeping together thing is over, we are going to go back to coexisting, I am done with you, Lucas."

"Selby, can you wait?" Lucas shouts as he watches her walk away, but to his dismay, she only runs away.

He looked at the sky, at the stars laughing at his misfortune, before hearing a cough from the bottom of the balcony to see Gian looking at him.

"Could you stop eavesdropping?" he yells angrily before storming inside the villa himself.

He had rushed to his room angrily, but he had dreaded as he passed by Fiona's room, and he could hear Selby crying.

A few minutes later, he heard a soft knock on the door. He already knew who it was, and he hated it already.

"Gian?" he condescendingly says.

"Can I come in?" Gian asked calmly, and Lucas had sighed before letting Gian.

"I wasn't eavesdropping, I was waiting for the food delivery company to bring my wife's egg fried rice as she was craving it," Gian explained.

"Well, you heard a conversation you weren't supposed to," Lucas says angrily.

"Yeah, I know, and I will take responsibility for that. I should have made my presence known."

"Well, that is it. Can you leave now?"

"Sure," Gian says before turning to look at the door, "you have hurt her, you should have worded your sentence better. I doubt you don't care about her like she assumed."

"And who are you a relationship expect?"

"Seeing as I am happily married and you are not, yeah, I am quite experienced, a little more experienced than you," Gian boasted. Lucas had sighed after that sentence; he knew he had no right to give Gian the attitude.

"I will try and have a word with her tomorrow, hopefully she talks to me," Lucas says.

"And hopefully you know how to use words, she is an awesome woman," Gian says.

"Don't you think I already know that? I don't love her yet, but I can always learn to do it," Lucas says.

"You should've said that from the start, you dimwit," Gian scolded, "okay, just talk to her before you lose her."

Gian walked out of Lucas's room feeling confused. It seemed this vacation had some kind of romantic agenda, two different relationships blossoming. He smiled happily. Clover would be so happy seeing her friends get married soon. He cannot wait to watch the show with her and enjoy other people's love for a change.

The night went faster than the speed of light; maybe it too wanted the issue to be resolved as quickly as possible.

The breakfast table had less tension than last night's dinner table. Selby tried her very best to act cordial towards Lucas, but it was a bitter taste on her tongue.

Heath could sense the tension between Lucas and Selby and held off making jokes. Gian, who knew what was going on, was hoping Lucas would get his sh*t together, and Fiona was praying Selby would hold her tears.

The plan was to have the tour guides take them around the island, with minimal talking. The group was able to arrive on time and was able to tour around the island.

Lucas tried his best to pull Selby for a talk, but she was not having it: "Can you stop already?" she shouted at him.

"Oh… wow, that is quite rude," Esther exclaims to Selby, who just shouted at Lucas.

"Stay out of this. How many times do I have to tell you to mind your business?" Lucas defended Selby in a heartbeat.

It not only shocked everyone it also shocked Lucas himself at how fast he was to tell Esther off, but she deserved it in his eyes; she had no right to talk to Selby like that.

"I…. I am sorry," Esther apologizes before walking away from the two.

"That is not going to help with anything, Lucas, I told you I am done," Selby says, folding her arms together.

"Can you listen to me for a bit, though? It is really important," Lucas pleaded.

"The group is going to leave us behind, let's just forget about all this, okay," Selby pleaded bitterly and walked past Lucas before he could respond, but she couldn't go further as Lucas had grabbed her hand.

"I listened to you; shouldn't I be given the same courtesy? And we can always catch up with the group, just listen to me, okay," he looked at her pouting face full of sadness, he doesn't really know what love is or how it is supposed to feel.

But if this is it, then he wants every part of it; he wants to watch Selby pout and he wants to kiss the pout away and watch her melt in his arms; he wants to make Selby happy.

"Fine, what is it?" Selby asked, clearly annoyed.

"I don't love you," his first sentence clearly made Selby angrier.

"We have already established that, get to the point," she bitterly said.

"Listen before you react, Selly," he scolded, but she only rolled her eyes. "As I was saying, I don't know if I love you or not, but I know I feel something."

"Pleasure? All we have done is sleep together, Lucas, of course, I will satisfy you," Selby condescendingly said.

"Woman! Can you let me finish, and no, well you satisfy me, but that is more than what I feel okay, I like you, maybe I love you but I don't know what or how it feels to love okay... just give me a chance, a chance to learn to love you, to learn to love myself," Lucas doing his best to not cry.

"What if you never do? What if you continue to look for love and not find it?" Selby asked, letting all the tears flow with her pain.

"That is impossible, because I think I already have found a part of that love, and I will not survive if I lose it." he looked at her pretty eyes with tears in his eyes, pleading for a chance.

"Okay, we will date, exclusively, but just know that because I loved you first doesn't mean I will tolerate any stupid antics, okay. If you hurt me, I will shave your head."

"I will definitely deserve it if I hurt a wonderful woman like you, hell, maybe you should just burn me alive for it," Lucas says, crying even harder.

"Man, this rain is terrible, making our eyes water," Selby joked. Lucas looked at the clear sky and the shining sun and smiled.

"Yeah, this stupid rain seems to have an agenda today," he joked, "can I… can I at least kiss you?"

"Well, sure," Selby says, and in an instant, Lucas had claimed her lips passionately.

"By the way, you are going to have to court me; this is the only kiss you get until I approve of you as my boyfriend," Selby teased, making Lucas smile happily.

"I can manage, I will sweep you off your feet very soon," he happily boasted, "let us start right now."

"Let me text Gian, we are going on a date," Lucas says quickly, taking his phone to text.

"By the way, who told you I loved you?" Selby asked, confused.

"Someone texted a recording of you talking to Fiona," I don't know who it was, though.

"Carl? Do you think Carl is trying to start trouble?" Selby asked, bewildered.

"I don't think it was Carl. Why would he do that?"

"He was the only one who left the villa without telling us where he was going yesterday, Lucas. I also think Carl might have pushed Fee overboard, too."

Lucas had halted for a while, though it made sense Carl had been acting differently since Fiona's incident, and he was the only one unaccounted for yesterday, but why? Why would Carl want trouble?
