Chapter 3 - PROLOGE +

⭐Please, Take your time to read. ⭐

Let's go back a bit; it all started at that strange Christmas dinner during the final days of the year. Strange because it was at the grandparents' house, you know, that moment when the whole family gathers together.

Well, before the party, everyone was assigned a task for the celebration. You know how it is: some people have to make or bring the dessert, the turkey, the asparagus, the mashed potatoes, and things like that.

Nancy and I were in charge of making the fruit punch. It wasn't complicated, we just had to follow Grandma's recipe step-by-step, but while I was cutting an orange, I accidentally cut my finger, and blood started flowing immediately.

"Ouch!" I cried out, clutching my finger.

"What happened.?" Nancy asked, looking at the wound; as she grabbed Dante's hand, a drop of blood fell right into the punch. "Damn," the boy muttered, watching the drop land in the bowl, while Nancy put her finger in her mouth to suck on the wound.

She sucked on her finger a few times before speaking. "Just leave it; nobody will notice anyway. Besides, we can't throw the punch out unless you want to start all over from scratch." Dante simply shook his head repeatedly.

"Alright, now go ask Grandma where she keeps the bandages," Nancy said before going back to stirring the punch.

Dante went looking for Grandma first; she was in the kitchen preparing the turkey for the Christmas dinner. Then, he headed upstairs to look for the first-aid kit in the bathroom, while downstairs, Nancy served some punch to get a second opinion.

At this point, I should mention that my family isn't really into punch; they prefer whiskey, gin, vodka, and tequila, depending on the type of celebration or the time of year.

To no one's surprise, opinions on the punch's taste were divided: for the women, it was the coolest drink they'd ever tried, while the men complained about the intense taste of shit and even asked Nancy if they were the targets of a cruel prank..

Minutes passed, and just before Dante entered the bathroom, he heard a couple of chimes followed by two mobile notifications and the accompanying vibrations.

That was all the messages said, no context, no answers, yet several questions were already piling up in Dante's mind.

"What is it.?" asked Joaquina, Nancy's older sister completely breaking his train of thought.

"Hmm, I don't know." He murmured; as he turned his head to the right, there she was, specifically her face hovering right over his shoulder.

"Holy crap.!" Dante shouted and took a few startled steps to the side, while behind him, Joaquina burst into laughter, even dropping to her knees and clutching her stomach with both hands.

"What happened up there.?" A shout rang out from the ground floor likely from one of his aunts.

"It's nothing; Joaquina just scared the hell out of me," Dante replied.

"Just be careful," the voice called back. By then, Joaquina was back at his side, pointing at the phone in his hand. "Is it real?" she asked.

Dante shrugged. "I have no idea," He said, his voice devoid of emotion, since scams were the order of the day.

"Well, what are you waiting for.? Check if the money's real." With that, Joaquina grabbed his arm and leaned her face over his shoulder again.

Dante simply nodded before opening his banking app; sure enough, there was a deposit of 100 gold coins and 40 dollars.

"Look, look, it's real, it's real," the boy remarked, immediately adding, "I'm going to exchange some coins.."

"No, Dante, don't be silly. First, verify that the banking app is working properly. Then, exchange all those coins for dollars so we know how much money we're dealing with. Finally, buy products online, that way, the cost is deducted from the balance in real-time or better yet, you can withdraw cash from an ATM."

Dante listened to every word; he immediately opened the banking app and transferred the 40 dollars to Joaquina's bank account.

Seconds later, the deposit notification sounded on Joaquina's phone, and she turned the screen toward Dante. "Done—the app works." With that, Dante proceeded to exchange the coins for dollars.

The bank pays 1,500 dollars for each gold coin.

1,500 dollars x 100 coins = 150,000 dollars.

Both eyes go wide with surprise. "Wow, that's so much money." The girl asks.

Dante says with a smile, "Did you never take basic math.?" Joaquina rolls her eyes and replies, "I did, actually though the teacher was an idiot."

"Who was the idiot.?" Nancy asks, arriving in the hallway with a towel over her shoulder.

"My teacher; *he* was a real idiot." Joaquina answers.

"You're just saying that because he never paid attention to your advances." Nancy remarks, adding, "That teacher is just like Iván, our big brother." This time, Joaquina doesn't respond to her sister's comment since their brother's situation is an open secret, even though he is already married to a beautiful gir, but she nods, a troubled look in her eyes.

"Now, both of you get out of the bathroom; I urgently need a shower." Nancy tells them, pointing at the door with her thumb. That's when Joaquina notices something strange around the pupils of Nancy's eyes. "What happened to your eyes.?"

Curious about the question but not answering it, Nancy immediately runs to look at her face in the mirror.

Nancy's blue pupils seem to have a red halo around them. "Oh wow, that looks cool." The girl comments excitedly, unable to tear her gaze away from the mirror.

"Maybe it's the pressure or the change in environment."

"I have no idea, but I need a shower." She points at the door again, signaling for both of them to leave. "Perfect. I need something to drink; I'll go to the kitchen and see what I can find," Joaquina replies, walking toward the door.

"Just don't finish off the punch," Nancy advises, ignoring Dante's presence as she strips down to her panties, going topless. Then Nancy closes and bolts the door, leaving Dante inside with his mouth hanging open wide enough to easily fit an arm in.

"For God's sake, I really thought Joaquina would never leave." Saying this, Nancy walks up to Dante, kneels down, and continues: "Come on, farmer. Now show me everything you've got. I'm about to go crazy with horniness."

Dante doesn't open his mouth, speak, ask questions, or least of all complain; he simply lowers his trousers and underwear, letting his shaft spring out as if there were a coil in his balls.

Nancy smiles faintly at the sheer size of it large enough to perfectly accommodate both her hands clasped together, she grips the base of the member and parts her red lips.

Joaquina goes down to the kitchen, where she finds her mother with three of her aunts and her grandmother, all enjoying some punch.

At first, she notices nothing out of the ordinary; she even hears her grandfather's voice mingling with those of her uncles. It isn't until she takes her first sip and realizes how delicious the punch is that she pays closer attention.

"By the way, Elena, do you know if any of those boys might have some luck this year.?" the grandmother asks, finishing the punch in her glass.

"What do you mean, Mama.?" the woman replies, refilling the glass.

"You know, going from a novice to a official hunter or best-case scenario becoming a Mage's apprentice." The grandmother remarks, a note of excitement in her voice.

Elena forces a smile at her mother's comment and sighs. "I just hope Dante has plenty of luck with his physical, written, and Talent exams."

"I just hope that boy doesn't end up getting some girl pregnant," Aunt Daniela remarks. The other women present nod repeatedly before sighing, knowing of nothing that could improve the talent one is born with.

Joaquina seems to remember something and speaks up. "By the way, Mom, can I borrow your car.? I want to go into town for a drive with Dante.."

Elena looks at her daughter for a moment and nods. "Okay, just don't be late, and remember that you both need to be back here before 8:00 PM.."

Joaquina smiles. "Perfect, I'm going to see Dante." Without another word, the girl turns and runs out of the kitchen, heading upstairs.

The women at the table exchange glances with subtle smiles and wait until Joaquina is far enough away.

"By the way, who is going to sleep in the attic with Dante tonight.? Do you think any of those girls would want to go sleep at Arico.?"

"To sleep. Who would be foolish enough to go just to sleep.?" Strangely, all the women around the table immediately volunteer by raising their hands—regardless of the fact that most are married; even the grandmother joins in.

"I think it's best to decide with a card game," Aunt Daniela suggests.

The other women agree to join the card game, and the grandmother suggests, "We should ask Joaquina and Dante to go buy a few extra bottles of liquor for the party." With that, the women at the table exchange knowing glances before bursting into laughter.

"I just hope I'm drunk enough not to hear their terrible nightly moaning." Elena remarks amidst her laughter, glancing at her older sister Daniela.

Just as she reaches the second floor, Joaquina runs into Dante coming out of the bathroom. Before the door closes, she catches a glimpse of Nancy standing at the vanity, wiping traces of a thick fluid from between her legs.

Odd as it may seem, Joaquina doesn't ask what he was doing in the bathroom with Nancy.

She simply holds up the car keys. "What do you say we take a drive into town.?" Before he can give a definite answer, Dante's phone pings with a couple of new messages.

"What is it?" Joaquina asks, craning her neck to get a better look at the screen.

"Just some new messages," Dante replies. He looks at Joaquina's face and shows her the screen, but he notices that she, too, now has that strange red halo around her pupils.

It isn't hard for Dante to connect the gold coins and extra points to the six women in the house.

"The uncles and Grandpa haven't tried the punch, have they.?" He asks. Joaquina immediately shakes her head, adding, "They all hate its strange taste; some even ended up throwing it up, comparing it to the worst drink they've ever had."

"Interesting," Dante responds.

"By the way, don't forget to bring your ID so we can see if the money in your bank account is real." She makes a comment, and Dante takes his wallet containing his ID out of his pocket.

As they both walked through the living room toward the front door, their grandmother reminded them to bring a few extra bottles of liquor for the party.
