"Sleeping in the kitchen, Eva?" he said, his voice laced with disappointment rather than mockery. "All because of a kiss on the hand?"
His tone was calm, but there was an undercurrent of something sharper beneath it. "That's what sent you running? Just a kiss?"
Eva's throat tightened as she looked at him, her lips parting as if to speak, but no words came out.
"You act like you committed some unforgivable sin," he continued, his voice softening slightly
Eva closed her eyes, her breath trembling as she tried to find the courage to speak.
Her voice was barely above a whisper, but the words came out with a desperate urgency.
"She didn't see... Akuna didn't see it," she murmured
Xylon's eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze fixed on her. "Akuna?" he echoed, his tone sharp.
Eva nodded, her eyes still shut tightly. "She didn't see the kiss... She didn't see anything."
A beat of silence passed, heavy and suffocating. Then his voice broke through, low and piercing.
