"Join me; with the both of us, we'll be invincible," a woman with silver streaks of hair stated.
Her eyes, without any ounce of emotion, stared at the man lying under the shade of a maple tree. However, seconds passed, but the rustling of the wind was the only thing that broke the silence.
She received no reply, not even a glance. The man just kept his eyes closed, ignoring the whole scene.
"So, is that your choice?" She spoke again, but this time, a faint level of disappointment could be heard in her voice.
"If Father were still here, he would—" she added but failed to finish her sentence as the man cut off her words.
"What for?" He asked before opening his eyes, just two words but enough to make the woman flinch.
"They were long gone, and that man as well. I don't see any reason to lift my scythe on this pathetic war," he said while staring at the ball of light hanging in the sky through the gap in the bundle of leaves.
