The burning was unbearable. All over my body, all I could think of was the burning pain. I begged for the fire to take me already. And put an end to my stuffing. But it was of no use; if anything, the fire roared louder in my bones as a response.
As I was burning, I heard a woman's voice in the fire. I tried to open my eyes, but through the blur, all I caught was her curly, bright red hair.
I tried to reach out to her, only for her to smack my hand away. I groan at the impact, only to have her put her hand over my mouth.
"Shhh, be quiet," she whispered to me. I squirmed to get free, but my body would not obey my commands.
She said something else, but with what little strength I had left, consumed by the flames that engulfed my body.
Eventually, she removed her hand and left. As time went on, the burn lessened little by little, and I could focus a little better. The next time I opened my eyes was when I heard a male voice.
He told me it would be over soon and to bear the pain a little longer. He was younger than the woman I had seen before. He has brown hair and a beautifully molded face, but that wasn't what caught my attention.
It was his vibrant red. He stared at me with no emotion in his eyes, even as he spoke to me with what sounded like concern. "Mmm, it seems to be almost over." He was right, the burning had left my limbs and seemed to congregate in my chest.
The burning seemed to grow hotter as the throbbing in my chest increased, and then all at once it was over. The throbbing in my chest and the pain had stopped.
All that was left was a dry ache in my throat.
"Who are you?" My browns netted together at the sound of my voice.
Although there was no doubt it came from me, something inside me told me, something was wrong.
"My name is Riley, and I will be looking after you. Come, let's get you something to drink," he motioned for me to get up as he started walking to the door.
"Drink?? Wait, what's going on?" I charged after him, only for him to take advantage of my speed and slam me into the ground face down.
He pinned me to the ground with his knee, his hand still crushing my face into the ground.
"I'm only gonna say this once, so listen up," he said impatiently. " I have turned you into a vampire to serve us in our mission. But before that, we need to get something to drink.
You're thirsty, right?" He said, smirking from above me.
"If you don't attack me when I let you up. I'll get you someone to quench that thirst in your throat." I wanted to attack him, but the very mention of my throat brought the fire right back.
When he let me up, I leaped away into a crouch. I instinctively hiss in annoyance. One hand going to my throat. The burning in my throat was now the only thing I could think about. I would do anything, and I mean ANYTHING, to stop it.
He looked annoyed with me and motioned for me to follow him again. I did, but made sure to keep my distance. As we walked, three others joined us. I growled at them, crouching back down into a defensive position.
They reciprocated with growls of their own; one of them, a blond male, charged at me.
I heard Riley shout for him to stop, but it was no use as he was already aiming for my neck.
Instinctively, I jumped back to dodge, but not fast enough, as he bit down on my shoulder, slamming us both to the ground.
I squirmed with all my might for what felt like hours, but in reality was only a few seconds, and eventually got on top. The venom from his bite simmers through me, but I pay it no mind as I bury my right hand in his hair and pull with all my strength.
His mouth rips from my shoulder, and with one loud crack, his head is no longer connected to his body.
Still on high alert for more attackers, I turn to see three pairs of red eyes watching me. It takes me no longer than a second to take in their forms. As I take in their readiness for a fight. Something inside me screams danger, so I take a step, preparing to run.
But I don't get far before someone slams into me from behind. Sending me flying into Riley, who catches me and swiftly puts me into a headlock. The two remaining newcomers move to attack me, but stop at the sound of a feminine voice.
"What a pain. You just woke up and you are already causing me trouble." Say's a red-haired woman. It was the same woman from the fire. It was only now that I saw her crimson eyes.
"Why did you kill him?" She said as she walked over his body. "He came at me," he replied, still struggling to break free.
"What a feisty one," she said, gripping my jaw.
"Don't let it happen again, or I won't be so forgiving." She said, smirking at me.
"Riley, get him a fresh change of clothes before he causes any more issues." She says Leaving.
Riley ordered the other two to go ahead before letting go, shoving me as he did.
I use the wall to steady myself. "Come on," he says, not waiting to make sure I follow.
I glance down now that his back is turned. Curious to see what the redhead was referring to. Only to see my shirt soaked in blood. Some of the blood had already dried. While other parts were still wet.
Before I knew what I was doing, I brought the cloth up to my mouth, and I suck on what little fresh blood remained. It was still warm as it rolled down my throat. Putting out the fire that gnawed at me as it did.
