About a week later...
I'm getting ready to go to college to collect my degree. The weather's so good today! A warm morning in the Autumn is one of my favourite feelings.
I put on my cherry red dress that I've been saving for this particular day. It's a full sleeve dress with a V-cut at the back. On top of it I slip on my graduation gown and tie up my brunette hair into a pony tail. After gathering my other belongings I head out cheerfully for the day ahead.My cab arrives just on time and I hop in.
'Finally college is over for good', I giggle and say to myself. I was tired of being the wierd kid throughout my school and college life. But, I know another wierdo just like me who was willing to be my best friend when college started. Wondering why she didn't come to see me after my accident? Well, she was in the U.S and has returned yesterday for the graduation ceremony. If I told her about my accident, she would've killed me that I hadn't told her sooner. So, I chose today to be the day when I make the grand disclosure. *chuckles*
In college...
Oh my God, my wierdo best friend Seline is running towards me!
Seline comes and bumps her shoulder with mine. And soon notices the scar on my forehead before jumping in an ocean of questions. "How did you get that scar? What happened to you? Why didn't you tell me anything? Am I still your bestie?" and the list goes on and on. How doesn't she get tired after talking so much. Then again we only talk to each other. So, all the back-bitching, trash talk are reserved for when we meet.
Without answering to any of her questions, I straight away tell her, "Austen is back!" She goes silent for a moment too long and stares at me in disbelief with her mouth open. "What did you say? Are you serious right now Jane? OH MY GOD!" Seline is still in shock for a good of five minutes. "Breathe Seline! And close your mouth cuz there's more story left."
"Wait there's more? As if this wasn't bombarding enough?" Seline stares at me, both shock and confusion written in her expression. "You were asking where I got this scar from? I got into an accident and got admitted to the hospital. And guess who treated my wounds? The Austen Parker! And this isn't my imaginary made-up story about my crush Seline!" I say without taking a break.
"You mean, The Austen Parker is now a doctor, he is back from God knows where, and has treated your wounds at the hospital, and I have to believe that all of that is true?" "Yes!" I reply closing my eyes for second or two to emphasize my point. "So, now what? Are you going to accept him back in your life after he just left you without saying a single word? Please tell me you won't ever do that Jane!" "He said that his family pressured him into going overseas for his higher studies. But he didn't provide me with an answer as to why he didn't even contact me for once." I said. "You didn't even ask him any further? And where has he been all these years?" Seline further asks. "I don't know. My accident and his return was already too much for me to ask about anything more." I replied.
*Announcement* "Students, gather in front of the stage. We'll begin the graduation ceremony!"
"We'll talk about this later. Don't you dare even think about escaping from me."
"Got it, ma'am!" I reply giving her a mock salute. About two hours later or so, the students have finally recieved their certificates and clicked a picture in the classic cap-throwing pose. The after party continues till the evening. And as soon as it ends, it's time to face my bestie's questionnaire again.
"Now tell me the rest of the story." Seline jumps in front of me out of nowhere. "He asked me to meet him on Tuesday, which is today and that he would text me the details as to where we'll be meeting. I agreed, totally forgetting that today was supposed to be graduation day and not 'Meet my love who has suddenly popped up into my life' day." "So, did he text you?" Seline asks. "I didn't check." I replied. Saying that, as soon as I unlock my phone message notifications pop up. It's him. He has asked me to meet him at 5 p.m in the Sugar and Crème cafe which is down the street, about five minutes walk away from my college. I check the time and my eyes widen seeing that it's already past 5:30. Seline was looking at the messages over my shoulder. She takes my arm and says, "I'm sorry that I can't come with you girl. I have a video call to attend to. Afterall I left my boyfriend alone in the U.S and came here for graduation." I roll my eyes at her. "Ask him about everything and teach him a lesson on my behalf for leaving you alone." She continues. "Okaaaay!" I make a face. "I'll call you at 10!" Saying that, I take off my graduation gown and put it in my bag. I'm glad that I decided to wear this dress. I take off in a hurry all while being nervous in anticipation of what's about to happen.
