Alex is lying on the bed and is trying to figure out the new mission given by the counsellor of the King.
The counsellor was waiting for Alex to give him a mission to go to a nearby village and take care of some thugs. The thugs used to live in peace but recently have started to cause problems in the village. Alex recently came crossing that village. Where the recent incident had happened. The starting point of all this chaos was a suicide that had happened. It's a small matter where sending the royal guards would look bad. It needs to be done in stealth. Alex was well versed about the village and was good at stealth. The counsellor told him that he would be rewarded better and also because he is the princess guest. Alex agreed to it, because it was the mess he created. He also wanted to know what caused this chain of reaction. Was it really something unpredictable or the goddess had her hand in it. That's why she told him to kill that guy.
He gets ready for his journey to the village in the morning. He wanted to sort this out quickly and get on with his plan to kidnap the princess. He was really lucky to get the mission directly. Getting the mission from the guilds has many hidden taxes, he would have gotten less money. Before going to the village he makes a stop at the temple on the outskirts of the city. He went to the temple and concentrated on connecting with the goddess. There was no reply, he stayed for an hour before leaving. He was not able to get a ride to the village so he had to walk all the way to the village. By sun down he had reached his destination. He went to the tavern where he stalked the criminal before.
The tavern looks the same as before to him. Same kind of people with the same vibe. But this time around the people in the village were less visible. There are also not many travellers nearby. He gets some food and tries to listen to other conversations to get any idea of the situation. There wasn't anything helpful to him. He tried asking the tavern owner about the current situation of the village but he refused to say anything. He gets a room to stay the night. After a few hours he leaves to roam the village. He thought night would be the best time for their crime planning activities. While in stealth, he moves around. He finds almost every place to be very quiet. He thinks he will have to ask the villagers about this. There is something terrifying going on here. He roamed around and found himself at the location of that criminal's house. He sees a big warehouse a few hundred metres away with lights coming out of it. He peeks into the house where he made the suicide scene. The house is clean and empty. He goes to the warehouse where the light is coming from. He goes to the roof and drops down to the side window. Which gives him a clear look inside.
He sees many piles of crates around the area. The only empty area was from the entrance to the centre. There were four people in the centre with one guy sitting on a big chair and blowing a pipe. He is probably the leader of the gang, he was wearing a vest. A big dark green coat was hanging on the chair. The other three guys were standing around him. It looked like they were waiting for something. They were very quiet, no one had uttered a word. A man with a very small build emerges from the piled up crates while dragging a medium sized crate. He drags the crate into the centre and opens it with a crowbar.
The crates reveal bars of silver. It is filled with it. The short man takes a bar to the leader. The other members also inspect it by themselves. After a few minutes the leader says, "Only two days until we leave this place!"
The short guy says, "But sir, the guy who gave us the contract told us to wait for five days after receiving payment."
The leader says, "I am doing him a favour by doing quick work. We will put the plan in motion at day break and then leave this place. Too much money to just sit on it."
The leader tells everyone to get their sleep and gather later to initiate their plan.
After everyone's gone to their sleep, Alex still keeps his eyes on them for any moment before making his move. He sees the leader moving, The leader uses a magic bag to collect all the loot in it. The bag has spatial magic in it to collect everything. The leader is betraying his companions. He decided to follow him to wherever the leader leads. HE observes every moment of him then the guy comes to a stop. He says, "You've followed me this far. How long do you intend to keep it up? I've been anticipating your attack. Are you from the Assassins Guild? Seeing your skills. You seem like a newbie. Are they trying to insult me by assigning a newbie to my case?"
He comes out of the hiding and shows himself to the gang leader. He says, "I've no intention of harming you. I just needed your whereabouts."
The gang leader smirks and says, "I don't like when people look at me. I like my own lonesome, the best."
As soon as he finishes the sentence, he pounces at Alex. Alex had his fire magic activated to launch at him as well. With The risk of burning himself, he releases the fire with a short blast sending the gang leader away from him. The attack didn't have any damage to him. Gang leader has a fire resistance cloak which he uses to suppress the attack.
The gang leader is more wary of him now. He draws his weapon and gets into a stance. Alex takes out his daggers to fight him off. They get into a fierce fight. Gang leader has the upper hand and severely injures Alex. Without giving up they fight to the bitter end of their stamina. Their attack speed has slowed from before. The earth around them is coloured with their blood.
Alex started wondering, 'what will happen if he dies? Will the hell the god promised him end? Or will he be thrown into some new hell?'. This is where Alex lost, he fell after a stab to his guts. He vomits blood. The gang leader laughs while spitting blood. He thrusts the sword more into Alex and turns it, feeling the ecstasy from the agony. He removes the sword and starts walking away while limping.
Slowly Alex keeps losing blood and soon loses consciousness. There is darkness once again. Alex says hoping someone would listen, "Why am I here again?"
