Adhering to the principle of hating the house and its crow, disdaining anything associated with him, Yue Ran tried her best to pretend that she did not care about the cat brought by Yan Ze.
(*Hating the house and its crow: The original idiom is to love the house and its crow, meaning that love extends to all connections. In this case, hate extends to all connections.)
She had really tried her best to exude an air of indifference towards the kitten. Yet, for reasons unknown, the little creature seemed magnetically drawn to her. It always stuck to her.
Time and again, when Yan Ze offered it cat food, it would sniff the morsels with disdain, choosing instead to circle Yue Ran like a devoted shadow before finally conceding to eat.
When there was no one around, Yue Ran crouched down with delicate care and gently stroked the soft fur of the small kitten before her.
