The sounds of students rushing to their classes, traffic along the campus roads, and the smell of dusty classrooms occur to Yuji as he walks down the hallways of the Building of Engineering.
With his headphones on, he walks towards his first class this semester.

"Dude, it's the first day of class and you're already looking like a zombie." A young man jumped over him and tried to remove his headphones.
Yuji budged and took off his headphones. "Easy on the headphones, dude," he answered bluntly as he firmly held his arm.
"Chill, dude," he said, pulling his hand away and circling his arms around Yuji's shoulders
"What do you want?" Yuji asked, "Dude, we're going to the same class, don't be such a snob," The young man said.
The young man was Yuji's only friend since high school. They were both in the engineering department but different majors. His name was Loid, a tall man slightly shorter than him.
Yuji just put his headphones back on and walked silently towards the room while Loid kept on talking. As they reached the room, Yuji just sat down at the front of the class and turned up the music on his headphones to overwhelm Loid's voice.
Loid noticed that Yuji wasn't listening. "This motherf-" he was about to curse him when the professor suddenly walked in. Yuji removed his headphones and pulled out a notebook.
Loid sat next to him and whispered, "Let's talk after class." he said, Yuji just nodded and attentively listened to the instructor in front of them.
Time passed, and first period was done. Yuji just put on his headphones and walked out of the room. As he walked down the halls, a loud yell came after him, "Hey, Mr. Zombie, wait for me!!" Loid screamed as Yuji tried to walk faster.
He pounced on him again. "So where do you plan on having lunch, dude?" Loid asked, but Yuji just shrugged his shoulders as they both walked towards their next class.
"How about this? Let's meet at lunch near the cafeteria," Loid suggested. Yuji just continued walking.
"Okay, okay fine, my treat," Loid suddenly said. Yuji nodded and smiled.
"You fucker, see you at lunch," Loid said as he ran towards his next class in the opposite direction.
Yuji entered his classroom and to his surprise, no one was there yet. He checked if he was in the right room, and he was.
His schedule said that class would start at 10:00 AM, but he was alone in the room. After a few minutes, three girls in their hoodies entered the room, and after them was the professor.
The girls and the teacher were shocked when they saw Yuji. "Yuji?! What are you doing here?" the teacher suddenly asked.
"I'm waiting for my class?" Yuji answered, confused. The teacher panicked and looked at the online registration system of the school. The girl and the teacher talked to themselves.
"Teacher, you know people can't see us around," one of the girls stated. "I know, I know, but he is enrolled in this class and the dean is strict about rescheduling, so I can't just kick him out," the teacher answered and the girls hurriedly ran out of the classroom.
The teacher smiled at Yuji. "Uhmm, Yuji, there won't be classes today, and always check your schedule changes may appear there," The teacher stated with a weird smile.
Yuji walked out of the room. "Weird," he said to himself before walking towards the cafeteria.
Yuji talks to himself,
' A whole hour of just sitting at the cafeteria, fuck no'
He changed his course to the back of the building where a small tree with a bench sits.
He sat there and opened a book, it was a graphic novel entitled 'Your Lie in April' by Naoshi Arakawa.
After a few minutes of reading, a cat with black and white fur sat on the book he was reading and meowed at his face.
"That's rude, little guy," he said, closing his face to the cat and the cat licked his nose. Yuji smiled and lifted the cat from the book to his lap. He brushed its forehead with his hands until it was comfortable in his lap.
He continued reading and forgot he was supposed to meet Loid. Time passed by, and it was already lunch; the sound from his headphones was cut off because Loid is calling him.
He answered the call, "Hey, dude, where are you?" Loid asked, "I'm kinda occupied right now," Yuji said,
"Occupied? HAHAHAH," Loid laughed hard. "I can't imagine you being occupied. Where are you right now? I'll bring the food to you," Loid said.
"At the back of the build-" Yuji was cut off by Loid. "Got it dude. Don't you dare move an inch," he said before hanging up the phone.
Yuji just sat and read until Loid came and surprised him. "Hey! Mr. Zombie," Loid suddenly shouted. Yuji was unfazed and kept on reading.
Loid tossed a sandwich at Yuji's book. "Dude, eat first," he said before sitting down beside him. Yuji put down his book and ate with Loid.
"So what do you want to talk about?" Yuji asked as he opened the sandwich,
"Actually, I was about to ask a favor," Loid said with a guilty smile. Yuji gives the sandwich back.
"Take your sandwich back. Not interested in helping you. The semester just started, and you're already in trouble," Yuji stated,
Loid gave back the sandwich. "Dude, I just want you to come with me this coming Sunday," he explained. Yuji just nodded, indicating for him to go on.
"There is this new girl pop group, and I was able to get tickets for their fan meeting so I want you to come with me so I won't feel awkward hehe," Loid chuckled lightly.
"Didn't fans go there to ask for signs on their merchandise? I don't have that," Yuji said, trying to find a way to say no.
Loid flashed a photo from his phone. "Don't worry, I have bought two sets Hehe," he boasted. Yuji rolled his eyes.
"C'mon dude, just this once," Loid kept on insisting. "If you do, I'll give you one of my sister's kittens," Loid offered.
Yuji's eyes suddenly rounded. "You mean, you'll give me one of the ragdoll kittens at your home?" he said excited.
"Yeah, dude I swear," Loid said, raising his right hand. "Fine, it's a deal," Yuji agreed, tempted by the offer.
"Nice!! I've e-mailed the ticket and the poster to you an hour ago. See you!" Loid said, rushing towards the door of the building.
"Damn, that fucker really knows how to manipulate me" he said, smiling as he imagined the ragdoll kitten.
Yuji looked at his phone and saw the time; it was already past noon and his next class was about to start. He picked up his thing along with the sandwich.
As he was about to walk inside, the cat meowed at him. Yuji has a soft spot for cats, so he knelt down and gave his sandwich to the cat.
"Enjoy that, little one," he said, smiling before he stood up and walked inside the classroom.
After his afternoon classes were done, he headed back home. Walking down the street as he was about to go to the train station. A girl wearing a dark cap, a sweatshirt, and some jogging pants came running towards him.
The girl hit Yuji, and the girl's cap fell on the ground. Yuji grabbed the cap that fell, but when he stood up, the girl was already out of sight.
Yuji looked confused and started looking around and saw the owner of the cap but when he was about to move, a swarm of teenagers and young adults came running from the direction that the girl came from.
Yuji stepped back, and when the swarm of people was gone, the owner of the cap was also gone. He looked at the cap and saw some initials on it. "MO, what does that stand for?" he questioned himself.
He kept on thinking until the train station announced the last call for departure. Yuji put away the cap inside his bag, then ran towards the station.
