They talked for some few minutes before she left with the bowls. During this discussion with Jade, he learnt few things about the world and more about the city he is in now.
It is an alternate earth, blue planet, with powerful beasts and cultivation sects. There are three continents which are ruled by the great kingdoms namely, the great elf kingdom, the great blood demon beast territory and the great kingdoms of men.
As there is one great kingdom of the elf people ruling over one continent and the great blood demon beast overseeing a whole continent, only the continent of men have three great kingdoms overseeing it.
These three great kingdoms are the great Lion kingdom of the South, the great Eagle kingdom of the East and the great Serpent kingdom of the West.
The great elves kingdom have closed their gates to the outside world for more than hundreds of thousands of years and no one have seen an elf in the past and this generation. Anyone who dares to make contact with them never comes back after entering the forest of life.
The great blood demon beast is still a mysterious being who have not been seen for hundreds of years now, since the last epic battle between humans and them. He is said to be the most powerful beast with powerful underlings who manages parts of his territory for him. It is also said that he is as strong as the protectors of the three human kingdoms put together.
The human kingdoms are known to have individuals as their backers, called the protectors of the realm, they are the best among their fellow cultivators as they are called geniuses. The protectors of the realm is a secret organization formed by the first rulers of the three great kingdoms, their main duty is to protect the human continent when a powerful beast shows up but they mostly do it all behind the scenes. There are three heads of this organization with each from one kingdom.
The west hills city is in the great Eagle kingdom of the East, which is the closest to the beast's continent, and is also a border city.
It is one of the small cities in this kingdom and is located in the most dangerous part of the kingdom as they are constantly been attacked by the beast tribe.
This city and other border cities are ruled by individuals either through strength or money, but some cities don't have rulers.
The big families and organizations do not intend to rule over these small cities. They only come here when there is an incoming beast wave. They come in to kill the beasts for drops and gather resources or take the loots back to develop their cities.
The leader of this city died during the last beast wave, a week ago, there is going to be a contest to choose the next city leader. As long as one have enough strength he can join the contest, there are no rules stating there can't be representatives.
That makes the general of the city guard temporary city lord.
The contest is a weeks from now. Such event brings in big shots who would be present to recruit some good disciples. Infact all the inferior sects and families in the region would not miss such events.
He decided to partake in the contest not for the city lord's position but to compare his skills to others. Which also means, he needs to cultivate both his skill and realm for this event.
He sat down cross legs in a meditation pose from his memory with his eyes closed after locking the door behind Jade. Even though his eyes were closed, he could still see the system panel.

This made the old man's expression change drastically to a smile." What about the change, did you take it?".
"No I rejected just as you told me to, can I go back to work now, Dad?", the lady, Jade, said with a serious face.
"Oh yes, yes you can go now, and don't forget what I told you", the old man said waving her off.
Jade turned and walked away with a single thought in her head, 'who...is he?'.
