A nunnery usually forbids men from entering its gates.
But today, Ning Chenxin was allowed to step inside.
All around, many nuns whispered about him as he passed.
The elder nun leading the way spoke calmly, "Their minds have not yet been tempered enough. I hope you won't take offense, benefactor."
Ning Chenxin shook his head, "I am the one intruding; it's no matter."
All along the way, Ning Chenxin didn't look at the nuns around him. After all, entering this nunnery was already an exception—best not to pry further.
He stepped into the main hall.
It might not have been as grand as other Buddhist halls, but its simplicity was clear.
At the front stood a statue of Avalokitesvara, the principal deity of worship here.
The elder nun first bowed respectfully to the Bodhisattva.
Ning Chenxin meant to bow as well, but was stopped by the elder nun: "You've already entered as an exception—no need to bow."
