Coma can be divided into several levels, with the mildest being drowsiness. Particularly for some severely ill children and infants, if there is drowsiness, special attention should be paid.
Perhaps this is a mild coma, but it is mistaken for dozing off.
Infants and toddlers under three, when sick with a cold, often become drowsy because they are unable to express themselves.
If the parents or guardians do not pay attention, the patient may progress to the second stage of coma, lethargy.
At this point, one needs to call out loudly and pat the shoulders or cheeks to barely wake the child.
If still neglected at this point, tragedy is likely to occur.
More severe than lethargy is a slight coma.
At this stage, the pupil's light reflex significantly slows, consciousness is lost, and one cannot be awakened.
Further up are moderate coma and deep coma.
Developing into a deep coma brings one very close to death.
