Aortic dissection is mainly divided into two types, one of which is Type A, highly dangerous, requiring open-chest surgery. The risk is extremely high, and the entire surgical process is very complex, demanding a high level of surgical experience and skills from the doctor.
Even so, the mortality rate for Type A dissection surgery remains as high as over 30%.
There are some exceptional surgical teams that specialize in this type of surgery, which can reduce the mortality rate to about 10%.
Relatively speaking, one out of ten patients still dies, the mortality rate remains very high.
The other type is Type B dissection, which can usually be treated with interventional therapy. This is resolved by placing a covered stent.
That is endovascular aortic repair, where the femoral artery is punctured, and a covered aortic stent is implanted at the rupture to completely seal the tear, achieving the clinical treatment objective.
