Chapter 9 - Play Cat and mouse

"i'd advise you to stay away from them" Micheal said, walking Emilia back to her class. it wasn't like she wanted to be around them, she wanted nothing more than to leave this school and in one piece. "Do you understand?" he asked sternly

Standing by her classroom door, she turned to him offering him a small smile, this was the third time he has saved her, she felt indebted to him "I understand. Thank you for saving my life again" she lowered her head. "No problem, just be safe" he said, his eyes scanning her for any injury seeing there was none he stepped back "you should go into your class now"

Nodding she turned, hearing his footsteps leave she turned her head looking at his retreating figure. he knew something, she wasn't sure what it was. she hoped it wasn't what she was thinking.

the class had gone quiet seeing her walk into the classroom, they watched her like they had just seen a ghost. what were they expecting? she wondered. ignoring their gaze she walked up to her seat next to camilla "what happened, did you get hurt?" she heard camilla ask while taking a seat

"No" she answered, she wasn't hurt she was scarred and terrified for her life, there's a crazy vampire, who has decided to play cat and mouse with her

"I figured you'd miss lunch, so I snuck out some snacks for you" Camilla carefully brought a sandwich from her pocket, passing it to her under her desk. Seeing how much Camilla considered her made her eyes burn "thanks...you would have gotten in trouble if you got caught" Emilia unwrapped the sandwich taking a bite slowly

"oh I did get caught" Camilla deadpanned, making Emilia choke on her sandwich, coughing. "Sorry" she felt Camilla pat on her back "Micheal caught me sneaking food but he only gave me a warning and let me go...probably its cause he knew it was for you"

Taking another bite, Emilia thought of the way he looked at her, he seemed—torn. Shrugging she nodded gleefully, appreciating him for saving her from hunger once again "here drink this" Camilla stretched a bottle of water towards her, smiling gratefully Emilia took the water chugging it down. "Thank you Camilla I would have been starving if it weren't for you" she said, handing the bottle back to Camilla

"its nothing, what are friends for" Camilla smiled brightly. Emilia felt a pang of guilt, she never thought of her as a friend. More like a bother, if she didn't want to escape so desperately, maybe if this was a normal school Camilla would have been her Closest friend.

the lesson began and ended in a blur. everyone hurried out of the classroom, excitedly talking about the bonfire party happening that night. Emilia watched their faces all happy and giggly, she bet they won't be laughing as much if they had been threatened by a deranged vampire. she wasn't really looking forward to the party

"is the bonfire a compulsory thing" Emilia asked Camilla walking next to her on their way to their room "its not, but it only happens once in a year, you'd be missing the party of a lifetime if you don't go...plus its the one time we don't have to wear uniforms so everyone is looking forward to showing off their personal style"

Emilia hummed nodding, "will it be weird if I didn't want to go?"

"What why not?" Camilla turned to her, her brows drawn together

"its just that, I don't feel soo good...I can sit this one out and attend the next one" saying that Camilla stopped ending up one step behind her, Emilia turned back wondering why with a questioning gaze. "was it...bruce?" Camilla asked gripping the hem of her white skirt

"Huh...no no no...its not Bruce. I just want to sit this one out" Emilia explained hurriedly. "if you're sick...I could heal you right now...I..."

"NO! Camilla... I just had a long day and want to rest that's all" Emilia said sternly with a soft voice. taking her hands to stop her from wrinkling her skirt. "You don't have to worry about me...just go have fun for the both of us. Okay?" Camilla nodded slowly, though she saw the hesitation in her eyes, Emilia was glad that she understood and didn't push further

Soon they made it to their room, Emilia fell on her bed letting out a huge sigh. 'Finally my sweet bed' she thought widening her legs to the edges of the bed. this bed was the best thing about this school. Letting out a loud yawn, she slowly fell into a slumber.

Opening her eyes again, night had fallen. she was still in her uniform, she looked towards Camilla's Corner, she wasn't there, probably already left for the party. pushing herself out of the bed, she slowly unbuttoned her shirt. intending to freshen up and go back to bed.

Looking out the window at her bedside she caught a glimpse of the smoke from the bon fire traveling up to the sky, it wasn't so far from the school, what if the fire got out of control and burnt down the school. That would be a great excuse to leave the school, wouldn't be a bad idea she mused pulling off her shirt. just as she was about to take off her bra she heard a knock on the door.

Turning her face to the door, she glanced at Camilla's bed, she was supposed to be at the party, pretty sure she won't be back by this time its only the start of the night. Another knock drew her attention to the door, hurriedly picking up her shirt, she quickly buttoned up not minding if she missed a button or two.

the knock came again for the third time, this time slower...one...two...three. the person at the otherside was teasing her, she was sure it wasn't Camilla. she had her own key, she won't need to knock on the door.

a shiver ran down her spine, its not possible that he would know her room, it couldn't be him she thought to herself trying to calm her raging heart, it worked until she heard the voice at the other side of the door

"Open up kitten, i can hear your heart going wild at the thought of me" Damien called out giggling

Emilia stepped back, placing her hands over her mouth to stop herself from screaming, how did he find out her room?, he...he's here, she thought not going to the party was the safer option but thinking about it now, being alone in an almost empty school was a dumb decision. No one would be able to find out who killed her

"Open the door my little prey or i'll do it for you...you know... I've always been quite a gentleman" his voice drew Emilia back to reality, she had to escape this vampire. looking towards the window, she'd rather die than be his dinner. Grabbing her bedsheet, she quickly ties the end of the sheet to her bed post making sure it was firm enough to hold her weight

"You have a thing for windows don't you... kitten" she heard him say, 'psycho' cursing him. She hurriedly fastened the sheet satisfied with how firm it was she rushes to the window holding the bedsheet, taking a deep the breath she climbs up the window. the plan was to use the sheet to climb down the window and run for help.

"You really underestimate how dangerous the woods can be especially for a human" the Vampire said gleefully, Emilia thought his voice sounded too close. Taking her eyes from the ground she looked up to see him grinning at her through her window, his head lazily leaning on his hand which was on the window seal as he watched her with an interested look in his eyes.

startled and terrified by the sight of him, she accidentally let go of the bedsheet making her fall freely to the ground 'i guess this is it...this is how i die' she shut her eyes tightly bracing for her body's impact on the ground, but it never came

"What a stupid little kitten...i see you'd rather die than have me suck your blood. too bad I would never let that happen" he said, holding her in his arms protectively. he had caught her mid air, levitating slowly to the ground.
