Chapter 133 - Chapter 131: Training With S-Rank Hero – Part 1

Sunz finishes his first meal after 2 days of starvation without feeling full or any symptoms of a food coma.

Yan: You must have been really hungry.

Sunz: haha, I guess… but I'm not full tho.

Yan: Don't worry, I'll make you more food after finishing our mock battle. I need to see all of your arsenal before focusing on your best trait.

Sunz: Got it. Also, I have a question. What rank are you? The highest rank I've fought was A-rank.

Yan: I am at rank D, but realistically I'm an S-rank.

Sunz: Ok… why are you that low while being so powerful?

Yan: I'm a Fortune Teller. I need the license to use my ability in public, and higher ranks will just interfere with my actual job.

Sunz: I see.

Yan: Any other questions?

Sunz: Not for now.

Yan: Then my turn for questioning. Do you have a combat outfit yet?

Sunz: As in a uniform for fighting?

Yan: Correct!

Sunz: I do, but it's back home…

Yan snaps her fingers, and both of them were immediately teleported back into Sunz's room: You can look for it.

Sunz: Sure… can you like, get out of my room so I can change into it?

Grandma Yan gets out of Sunz's room: I'll be waiting on the sofa.

Sunz: Thank you!

After 10 minutes, Sunz comes out in his uniform to meet Grandma Yan.

Sunz: So, this is my uniform. Do you have any criticism?

Yan: No criticism except for, you look like you are a bodyguard of the Tower Guild.

Sunz: Ok.

(Guild? Really? I guess that should be the name because a lot of people have special abilities. Still so fucking dumb tho.)

Yan: Here's a drop of knowledge for you. Guild is just one of the words most associations like to use. There is Company, Organization, Clan, Crew, Council, and many more names.

Sunz: Cool… is this Tower Guild have any connection with the Tower building in Korea? The one that got attacked recently.

Yan: No, not at all. The Tower Guild was created after the 9/11 event. Their purpose is to maintain the building structure while it's being attacked and buy enough time for civilians to be rescued.

Sunz: Ok, thank you for the information.

Yan: Great, you should be ready…*look at Sunz's feet and notice his sock* what footwear are you using for this mock battle?

Sunz: My normal laceless shoes. What else should I be wearing? Also, I fought with it before, so it should be the best option.

Yan: I see. That is unacceptable, your outfit should match, top and bottom. So go change your socks and get your dress shoes.

Sunz: Ok… anything else?

Yan: A cover would be nice, like that 'Windbreaker' of yours.

Sunz: Got it. (I don't think I've worn those dress shoes before.)

After another 10 minutes, Grandma Yan heard the clicking sound of hard leather soles striking the wood floor. And coming out was Sunz wearing his current uniform.

Yan: That's more like it. How do you feel?

Sunz: Fine, I guess. Only problem is, the dress shoes are a bit tight.

Yan: They will stretch out the more you wear them. Trust me, those shoes will improve your performance.

Sunz: Well, you are an S-rank after all. The shoes are tight but can be slipped in and out quite easily, with enough force.

Yan: Good. By the way, you did not mention those gloves?

Sunz: Oh, these were a gift from…

(Is Grimm my friend? No, he is way older than me. Coworker? No, that doesn't fit… hmmm.)

"They were a gift from my first mentor, a German guy."

Yan: I see.

(Those gloves… I see… normal. They are certainly not normal.)

"Well then. You ready?"

Sunz: YES!

Yan smiles at him then snaps her fingers… everything disappears and turns into a white void except for Sunz.

Sunz taps his foot at the void (Well, you've been trained in this before, nothing too bad… jesus, I might actually do some damage with these shoes.) then readies his right hand on the hilt, sheathed, and holds his left arm behind his back.

After Sunz got into his stance, a large shadow appeared below him and moved like it was swimming in the white void. He instinctively looks up and sees the same thing above him, but it's not real, just another identical shadow, swimming. Then something quickly flies across the corner of his vision, forcing him to react and see… another shadow swimming around him on the white void wall.

Sunz: ok this thing is not psychic anymore.

Watching the three shadow creatures on the floor, ceiling, and wall while walking in a circle to keep his guard up. Then he starts noticing something change in his vision.

"They are… closing in on me? Fuck me, man! How am I supposed to fight against this vision stuff?"

"No, just think simple. Black and white. You have it in your arsenal. Focus!"

Sunz strengthened the grip on the sheathed hilt, and black smoke started flowing out from inside, only for a second, before the inside started leaking out shining light. Then, with swift movement, he drew his light blade and stabbed the shadow creature in the floor. Then he was shone on by light from part of the shadow creature on the wall and ceiling, but those lights lasted for less than a second before turning black, and he felt a light tug.

Sunz (Fuck! I'm not risking this fish thing drowning me.) immediately increased the grip on the hilt, and suddenly the light spread more to the shadow creature, but the strength of the tug also increased. His left hand began to grip onto something that is invisible, then he performed a draw motion and struck with a loud *BANG* at the floor, and he felt the movement stop, lodging into the floor.

(Great! But that's so painful…) continue repeating the same action with his left hand and maintaining the grip strength on his right hand. As loud *BANG* continue appearing, the white void start ripple, his left hand slowly sinking closer to the white void while his right hand pulling the blade out but sink in more as the strength of the tug increase.

After feeling the 30 minutes straight of continuing tug of war against the shadow, that actually was only 30 seconds. Sunz felt like he was about to faint and didn't even notice that the light blade from the hilt had already spread across the shadow creature like branches.

Sunz: I..*panting* can't keep going… fuck! One…final… PULLL!

Using all of his leftover strength combined with a loud *BANG* that suddenly created black shatter marks across the white void instead of the ripple from before and… successfully pulled up the shadow creature from the white void pond.

Sunz lifts up both of his arms in celebration, but they have gone limp: Woohu!

Vision starts flashing between black and white while the body has no more energy, both effects force Sunz to fall onto his back into the white void.

Sunz:.. *THUD*

The body hits the white void like it was colliding with a concrete wall, then it starts bobbing up and down like it was floating in the middle of a pool.

After a few seconds, suddenly he lost all feeling in his body, and his eyes were forced to open wide against their will. Then his vision started to see changes in the scenery as if someone was moving his body around until placing it standing right in front of the massive black blob.

Sunz (I fish that? Ha.): Grandma? You here? I thought we were going to fight and not… me going fishing against this black blob… *seeing the black shatter marks* I think I also did some damage to the environment.

After Sunz finished talking, the white void slowly healed itself as the black blob got smaller until everything reset, with a lotus flower left behind after the black blob disappeared. The lotus flower then floated towards Sunz and attached itself to his hair… then slowly, Sunz regained his strength at the cost of seeing withered lotus petals floating down before his eyes.

When he regained his full strength, Grandma Yan immediately appeared in front of him.

Yan: I must say, quite the performance. You have more potential than I thought.

Sunz: Haha. I guess. *reach his hand at his hair*

Yan: Please don't touch that.

Sunz: Ok… what is this thing that just healed me? What was that whole fishing challenge? And what the hell is this white void area?

Yan smiled at him: Was it fun?

Sunz:… maybe? I don't know. Don't dodge the question, please. Like, what kind of history are you S-rank hiding?

Yan: Let's see, answer in order. That on your head which you should not touch is a lotus flower. The fishing was a test. This is my secret home.

Sunz: ok, sure. Then how much of this was, I don't know, training? While the remaining event was just you showing off your ability?

Yan: You're almost wrong. This is 100% of me showing off my ability and this location… then you suddenly turn this into a training after stabbing my Yin.

Sunz: oh… sorry.

Yan: Don't worry, everything is fine. Just a convenient accident. But you definitely have a really strange ability. Some kind of Elemental skills?

Sunz: Damn, you are good. It's something like that.

Yan: Great, before we go into your actual test. What type of situation have you been in more, 1 on 1 or 1 versus many?

Sunz: 1 on 1. I don't think I've ever been in a fight with multiple people.

Yan: Good, then we'll go with the second. Last question before the test. What is the only rule that a Hero should follow?

Sunz: It's too simple. Protecting civilians at all costs!

Yan: We'll see!
