It was a perfect reflection of the impression people had of Rose Shaw: tough on the outside, but actually very soft and sensitive on the inside.
"Rose, do you like the new office? President Sterling said if you don't, we can redecorate it to your liking."
"It's fine. Don't go to the trouble."
"Here are the company files for your review."
Rose Shaw flipped open the folder, and the first thing she saw was the financial report. "Did you grab the wrong file? Why do I have the finance report?"
"Now, the finance department reports to you, too! You're truly President Sterling's indispensable right-hand woman!"
Rose Shaw closed the folder, her thoughts in turmoil.
"It's time for the meeting."
Rose Shaw looked up to find Christopher Sterling standing at her door.
