Chapter 14 - The meeting

Furious at his unbothered arrogance, Audrey fired back an instant, sharp response.

"Since you're clearly monitoring my location, ensure you bring the physical antidote with you tomorrow night."

She stared at the encrypted screen for thirty agonizing minutes, but no reply came through. Growling under her breath at the strange, warm sensation lingering in her chest, she finally powered down the terminal to catch some sleep.

The Following Morning...

Audrey was still deep in a rare, restful sleep when the heavy oak doors of the Reed mansion opened. Her eldest brother and second older brother walked in together—a miraculous event given their respective roles as the leader of the nation and the head of military technology.

"Good morning, Mr. President." "Good morning, Chief Engineer."

The elite security detail and house staff automatically snapped to attention, bowing in deep reverence.

"I must say, whatever crisis possesses the leverage to drag a scandal-free President away from the State House at dawn must be historic," Kevin teased, a knowing smirk playing on his lips.

"Look who's lecturing me on logistics," the President countered smoothly, adjusting his tailored cuffs. "Do you possess an awareness of anything on this planet that isn't forged from steel, coding, or high-grade weaponry?"

"Sovereigns or not, you are standing in my foyer, boys," Mrs. Reed's voice echoed sharply from the parlor. "I suggest you remember your manners. Your sister is finally sleeping under our roof, and I won't have your bickering waking her."

"I secondary your mother's decree," Mr. Reed added, walking out to greet his sons with an immense look of pride.

The hallway grew quiet for a second before Kevin laughed and stepped forward, pulling both parents into a warm embrace. The President longed to do the exact same, but as the literal face of the state, his public movements were governed by strict decorum; he settled for a firm, deeply respectful handshake with his father.

"Where is our princess?" the President asked, his stoic mask shifting to reveal a longing older brother. He hadn't looked into his sister's eyes in eighteen long years.

When her updated intelligence file had crossed his desk, her sheer elegance had left him speechless. He had systematically engineered his political rise to the presidency solely to possess the sovereign authority required to safeguard her clandestine lifestyle. Yet, Princess Audrey had continuously reversed their roles—silently neutralizing foreign syndicates and assassins before his security detail even realized a threat existed.

"Maintain your perimeter, Big Brother. And secure a proper sister-in-law for me soon," her rare, encrypted transmissions would read.

He had spent a lifetime dreaming of acting like a protective older brother—spoiling her, shielding her—but she was a shadow commander who shielded the entire dynasty. Still, just for today, they wanted to treat her like their little sister.

"Have the staff notify her quarters that we're coming up," Kevin requested, turning toward the grand staircase.

"And who exactly gave you permission to monopolize my sister's affection?" a lazy, melodious voice drawled from above.

"Liam?" Kevin turned, surprised.

"Mom," Liam groaned, sliding down the banister with an unbothered grin. "Why did you have to alert them? I was fully prepared to keep her to myself. Now I have to share her with the government and the tech division. It's exhausting." He stepped down, offering his brothers a quick embrace.

"You'll survive the compromise, little brother," the President chuckled.

"Are you forgetting who monitors the global data grid, last-born?" Kevin laughed, clipping Liam upside the head. "She's the phantom crown jewel of the Reed family. The moment her plane touched down in this sector, we were bound to deploy."

Kevin paused, his expression turning uncharacteristically thoughtful. "Though... I have to admit, she's entirely grown now. I'm at a loss as to how to actually pamper her. Her private accounts hold more liquidity than our entire corporate division combined. How do you spoil a literal goddess of wealth?"

"I've already signed over the deed to the private archipelago on Perkins Island, along with my personal supersonic transport jet," the President stated flatly, as if discussing the weather.

"And I've prepped the keys to my primary prototype vehicle," Kevin shot back. "It presents as a classic vintage chassis, but the interior mechanics are classified military tech."

Liam let out a dramatic sigh. "Well, since I am the youngest, and my sister is officially wealthier than the actual commander-in-chief while I'm just a low-income resident doctor... I will happily leech off her fortune. I'll just sit back and wait for the ancient King to claim her hand. Let's be real—there isn't a mortal billionaire on the top two hundred list who could match her lethal capacity anyway."

"If I catch you exploiting our sister's generosity, Liam, I will suspend your license," Kevin warned, though his eyes danced with amusement.

"Consider it a joint executive order," the President added, his eyes narrowing playfully.

"Are any of you willing to let him compromise our family Gem?" Kevin called out to the assembled staff. The sudden question caught the maids off guard, but their loyalty to the returning princess was absolute.

"NEVER...!" they chorused instantly.

"What exactly is causing this level of structural noise in my house?"

A soft, devastatingly beautiful voice cut through the laughter from the threshold of the drawing room.

The entire household fell dead silent. Audrey stood framed in the doorway, observing the chaos with her striking, hazel-green eyes.

It felt as though they were looking at a phantom materialized into flesh. Kevin and the President froze, their analytical minds taking in every detail of their younger sister. She was a vision of absolute perfection, possessing an ethereal grace that eclipsed even their mother's legendary beauty. It was staggering to realize that this delicate-looking woman had survived her entire life like a regal gazelle navigating a jungle teeming with predators, simply waiting for her true sovereignty to awaken.

"My god... the true sovereign of the kingdom," Kevin breathed, his analytical mind completely failing him. A massive, emotional grin broke across his face. "Princess... I swear I want to march you down the main avenue just to scream at the world, 'Look at my baby sister! Standard protocol is canceled because she has arrived!'"

Without waiting for her permission, Kevin lunged forward, wrapping her in a fierce, protective embrace.

"Eighteen years, Audrey," Kevin choked out, his voice cracking against her shoulder. "The last time I held you, you were a tiny child with that pussycat bob haircut and a face like a porcelain doll. Now, you're a twenty-five-year-old commander. I've missed you every single day. My soul hasn't known peace since they took you away."

He had spent decades cultivating a reputation as a cold, unyielding engineer, but holding her flesh and blood shattered his defenses. Hardened tears spilled freely from his eyes, dampening her shoulder.

Audrey went rigid, her tactical reflexes completely useless against an older brother's raw grief. She had no protocol for a crying relative. Looking over Kevin's shoulder, she caught her mother's subtle, encouraging nod and slowly raised her hands, gently patting his back in an attempt to soothe him.

"Little Sister, do you intend to completely ignore the leader of the free world over here?" the President asked, his voice thick with unshed tears as he stepped into her line of sight.

Audrey extricated herself from Kevin's grip, a brilliant, playful spark illuminating her hazel eyes. "Naturally I see you, Mr. President. But when ambushed by a weeping mountain of an older brother, what is a defenseless lady supposed to do to secure her own safety?" she teased, winking at Kevin.

"Hahaha! Come here, you beautiful girl," the President laughed, throwing his arms open wide. "Let me verify for myself if my baby sister has survived the wilderness intact."

Audrey stepped into his powerful, royal embrace, the icy defenses around her heart thawing completely. "Your little sister has always known how to command her territory, Big Brother."

Meanwhile, at the Global Headquarters of A&R Corporation...

"Why is that vintage car sitting in the CEO's private executive bay?" a receptionist asked, staring out the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

"Are you blind? Look closer—that car is a mechanical masterpiece," a male design director countered, scoffing. "If the board members find out someone parked a random chassis there, security is toast."

"Don't be dense," the male employee hissed. "Look at the aerodynamic custom logo and the alloy plating. It's a one-of-one prototype. That machine easily costs north of 200 million dollars."

Right then, the reinforced door clicked open. A long, striking leg clad in a fluid, shifting, uniquely tailored business suit extended outward, her heel hitting the concrete with absolute authority.

She was the definition of power. Before they could even process her face, her lethal, effortless aura struck the onlookers dead in their tracks.

"Wow..." A collective gasp rippled through the lobby. Every employee was instantly pulled into a deep sea of absolute admiration.

"She is unimaginably cool," a junior designer whispered.

As the reigning CEO, Audrey hadn't issued a warning to the executive board regarding her arrival. She wanted a raw, unfiltered look at daily operations, refusing to give the directors time to construct an illusion of flawless performance.

"Welcome to the A&R Corporation. How may we assist you today, Miss?" the female receptionist asked, her tone shifting into instant, breathless politeness.

"Thank you. I am here to meet your Vice President," Audrey replied, a sharp, enigmatic smile gracing her lips. "It's a surprise inspection, so please refrain from alerting his office. I won't disrupt operations; if I violate my word, you have my full permission to call the police."

Standing nearby, Nicole, the head of the security detail, choked on his coffee. The young princess truly knows how to execute a flawless corporate bluff, he thought, sweating.

"Understood, Miss... though I should probably start packing my desk right now," the receptionist joked nervously. "Letting an unverified visitor up to the executive floor means I've definitely lost my job. But you are honestly too beautiful to resist. Good luck with the VP."

"Thank you. I will certainly remember your cooperation," Audrey said smoothly, stepping into the private, biometric executive elevator.

The moment the doors slid shut, the lobby erupted. "Did anyone catch that fabric? The light spectrum shifts completely whenever she moves! The structural design is entirely unprecedented!" a senior designer gasped.

"Quick, scan the footage into the global textile forums to identify the weave," another employee suggested, typing frantically.

Yet, even after five minutes of running the images through global databases, not a single fashion house or industrial manufacturer could identify the material. The staff completely lost hope; it was a ghost fabric.

As they were completely consumed by analyzing her attire, a high-priority, company-wide emergency email simultaneously flashed onto every employee's terminal:

URGENT: ALL DEPARTMENTS REPORT TO THE MAIN AUDITORIUM IN EXACTLY FIVE MINUTES. OUR ELUSIVE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER HAS ARRIVED ON SITE TO MAKE CRITICAL CORPORATE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND OFFICIALLY INTRODUCE HERSELF TO THE CADRE. — Office of the Vice President

The multi-billion-dollar headquarters erupted into pure pandemonium. Employees scrambled from every sector, abandoning their desks to rush toward the grand conference hall.

"Hey! Watch where you're going! How dare you shove past me?!" an elite director from the design division snapped as someone collided with her.

But hell no—nobody paid her an ounce of attention. The corporate hierarchy was temporarily shattered; everyone was frantic, desperate to secure a front-row seat.

At that exact moment, the official global website of A&R Corporation updated its primary landing page, officially revealing the face and identity of the true owner of the conglomerate.

For a decade, this specific tycoon had remained the most elusive myth in the global financial sector. Having never appeared in public, most of the international market assumed the founder had passed away shortly after establishing the corporate giant.

Away from the city, inside the Willow family estate, Old Master Willow stared at his screen, his eyes widening in absolute shock. "Incredible... at long last, this mysterious global titan has finally decided to step out of the shadows."

The A&R Corporation was globally revered as the most ethical powerhouse in existence—a place where employees treated every single client with unmatched professional respect, regardless of whether they were impoverished, middle-class, or multi-billionaires. And today, the world was finally going to look upon the face of the trillion-dollar empire's true ruler.
