Chapter 21 - *Sigh* What now? Taking over a country?

Eventually, after a day of rigorous fighting, we came to a truce. The conclusion we arrived at is that fighting each other doesn't fix the situation.

We decided to establish a territory. I will be looking for a place to set up, while Carrera will fix the housing problem for all the demons.

I've decided taking over one is easier than creating from scratch. Neither me or Carrera has any experience in running a country. Hence the rationale.

First I appear in a random human town and purchase a world map. It's annoying since it keep changing all the time.

The best place seems to be the west. There are a lot of countries and no powerful existances to get in my way.

Probably, anyway.

I teleport to the wester most part of the main continent, in the midst of a cluster of countries. My eye is on a kingdom called Eridia, specifically.

The territory is quite small, but it's positioned in a good location. In fact I'm suprised why the bigger countries haven't already taken over.

I hop over to it's palace and cast invisibility on myself. Moving around undetected.

"There's the king." He looks like a manly man, almost 2 meters tall. But it's not yet time for our negotiations.

I quickly locate his office and start looking through the documents.

After finishing reading them, I move to the ministers offices and rooms. For 4 days I scoue and read all the documents I can find. Coming out of there with a pretty good idea of what situation this country is in and how the infrastructure is set up.

Turns out the king is as manly as he looks. By what I've seen, he is very talented. Most of the power is centralized, meaning the king has almost absolute power.

Based on the documents, his reign has been superb. He has atleast tripled the economy during.

Time to have a chat with him.

I slam the open the doors of the audience room. The king is sitting on his throne, seemingly having a meeting with his ministers.

The ministers get put to sleep, except for the prime minister standing next to the king.

Then I dispel my invisibility.

The two men are shocked when they see all their fellow men fall asleep. Shortly after they get another suprise, as a stunning woman in a black dress appeares.

"Who are you?" The king responds quickly.

Very impressive.

"Hello, my name is Artoria. I'm electing myself the new head of state. Any questions?" I declare, then walk up to the throne and unceremoniously yank the king out of it. Throwing him across the room like a bag.

Then plant my own, firm behind on the gaudy chair.

"Wha..." The prime minister balks at my audacity.

Over 10 guards immediately rush into the audience room. Guess someone alerted them.

Seeing the guards rush over, I sneer. "Even if this whole kingdom went against me, you wouldn't win."

Then casually swipe my hand through the air. All the top halves of the guards explode unannounced. The room instantly becoming a red mess.

"Jesus!" The prime minister shouts. By the way, who's Jesus?

The king and the prime minister are both understandably shocked. I hold my hand up and seemingly set the floor on fire. Just burning the blood and the remains of the guards to nothing.

"Do us both a service and don't summon any more corpses. These are my people now, after all." I calmly state.

"Let's start again." I lean back on the throne and cross my legs. Cheek resting on top of my fist.

I look elegant, regal and awesome!

"My name is Artoria Pendragon, the corrupted true dragon. I have come to this country with the intention of usurping it. Now, I am not unreasonable. The reason I'm talking to you in the first place is to come to an agreement, as I still desire you to work as a king. Just under ME. " I explain. Staring them down.

The king and prime minister take a minute to process. Rightfully so. I can understand how hard it is to come to terms with what I'm saying. I understand, yet I simply don't care.

After a few minutes, the king finally sighs and opens his mouth. "You mentioned an agreement? What do you have in mind?"

I smirk. "Simply put, you are human. So you are short, stupid, poor, weak and dumb. I want you to keep being the king and running the country. Except now you have me as a superiour and whatever I say or implement, goes. I will be the secret, true ruler of the country. While you continue as you have." I explain.

"Haah. Do I even have a choice." The king grimaces. He seems to understand the threat I pose or atleast putting on an act like he does. No doubt future complications will follow.

No matter. Whatever the king tries, there is nothing he can do about it.

I have absolute power.

"I'm glad you've understood. Now then..." After that, I proceed to explain some things and make a couple of threats.

The only realistic way the king can annoy me is if he rebels without regard for his life.

....

After chatting with the two men, I teleport to my mansion and locate Carrera. She's sitting on a couch and reading a book, even though she was supposed to manage the demons.

"Why are you not doing anything?" I ask, looking at her like trash. Pure disgust on my face.

"Hmm? Ah, I gave them commands and left Meliodas in charge." She casually says and sips her tea.

"Well whatever. Come with me. And where is that girl Piscalat..." I say and look around.

"You called Lady Artoria." Piscalat appeares next to me. Slightly startling me.

"Oh? What inspired you to call me a lady? Was it that rough smack." I ask with amusement.

"No, I simply found you worthy of my service." She says. I don't really understand what she concluded in her head, but it makes things easier for me, so I'm not complaining.

"Alright." I snap my fingers and the three of us appear in the Eridia kingdom royal castle. I had the king arrange rooms for 3 people.

Once we get the rooms sorted out, I instantly start on my plan to consolidate my rule over this kingdom. Meanwhile Carrera wanders off somewhere, leaving Piscalat to remain and assist me.

I stand in the middle of my room, with my hand on my chin. It's a big room, for nobility, so all the furniture is quality. In the corner of the room, Piscalat is quietly standing and looking at me.

"Hmm..." I muse and think. I want to create some sort of homunculus. But for that, I need to do some testing.

"Piscalat go and bring me humans, around ten. They all have to be female." I tell her.

"Understood." She nods and smiles creepily.

While Piscalat leaves on her task, I set up a dimension and within it, I put down all kinds of magic circles.

The domain I created is smallish, around 2 kilometers across. The access point is through a door, that's in my room. The good point is that through the door, I can anchor the dimesion. This means that I don't have to constantly maintain the spell. I just have to supply mana from time to time.

Not even 10 minutes later, Piscalat returns with 10 sleeping women. "I have brought them." She casually states. Her kidnapping skills are very proficient...

Not minding, I nod at her and take the women. Under Piscalat's keen eyes, I start my research. What I'm attempting to do is create a human that has a portion of my blood and that I can inhabit. I want the final product to be just like a human without a will.

The poor women that Piscalat brought me, should curse all their ancestors for their lack of fortune. The things I do to them are well past inhumane.

I slowly pick them apart, learning everything about them. Then I try to reassemble them, like they're some sort of puzzles. Since I'm starting almost from zero, I have no idea what to do. This means I'm trying to grasp the answer in the dark.

I burn through the 10 women quickly. All of them end up dying. Once I've run out of humans, I just ask Piscalat to bring me more. So she does. She brings me more. And then more. And then more.

Some of them are lucky, as I keep them asleep, while I disassemble their bodies and souls. Whilest others are not, as they scream until they lose their voices and experience pain that breaks their minds.

I remain completely unfeeling as I work through hundreds of humans...
