Larcade proceeded to continue his investigations, slipping through walls and eavesdropping on conversations. To his dismay, just as he suspected, it appeared that nobody was aware of the kidnappings in the town. People hardly discussed it!
It was as though the information Senior August and he had received from the tower was completely false!
Larcade shook his head and quashed that thought. Missions from the High Towers were approved by high-ranking sorcerers and were rarely false alarms. There had to be something going on here, and Senior August also suspected some things, too.
What made him more highly suspicious was the fact that since Senior August had left and Lord Kiernan had taken his leave, he could not sense the latter's presence anywhere!
The carriage and guards of the town lord are still present, which means that he should not have left the mansion.
