I woke up with an aching body and immobile legs, but in a different environment. I looked around with difficulty.
Now I was lying on a king-size bed in a huge wooden room, with some medical scanners linked to me. On one side of the room, a woman with long black hair was sleeping while sitting on the couch.
I smiled bitterly at this scene. I never had someone to worry about me in my past life. Because of that, having a mother out of nowhere was kind of weird but also made me feel at ease.
At the same time, I had this feeling of anger that she overworked herself. That's why my 'autopilot' self before had those distant impressions.
I looked at my mother. "Mom," I said with difficulty, as right now it was hard to even breathe, let alone speak. She opened her eyes, looked in my direction, and hurriedly came to my side. She looked at me carefully, but before she said anything I asked with a cutting voice, "A...re you O.K.... M-m-ma?" I ended up coughing. Out of nowhere she hugged me while sniffing. "Am I OK? Look who's asking... sniff... Thank god you are alive." She hugged me tighter. I wanted to hug her back, but I couldn't move and started to fall asleep in the comfort of my new mother, probably because of what happened before.
---------3rd P.O.V.--------
It's been a week since Yuki arrived at the home base of the Sky Guild, and in that week he almost made Anna's heart stop a couple of times. Every day his body would start to heat up and destroy itself from the inside out and then start to heal.
Any attempt from them to help had a negative effect on him, so all they could do was watch and make sure his body had enough nutrients to keep his regeneration working.
Some of the doctors even marveled at his body and, under the permission of Anna, put a group together to observe his case.
Although all of them were high-ranked doctors and had seen their share of unique and different supernatural specimens, this was the first time they saw an individual body rebuild from the inside without outside help. They believed that if they had been allowed to engage in this kind of deep reconstruction of the human body, they would have gained a lot in the field.
But to their chagrin, they were shut down thanks to Anna, who only allowed them to monitor the scanners and his body without touching or moving him. One of them tried to sneak a sample of Yuki's blood but ended up being blown out of the window by her. In the end, she brought in her personal doctors.
While monitoring his body, the MC found himself in an outer space-like place again, but this time there were no stars whatsoever.
As he was looking around, he found three unique creatures looking at him. One was more like a mist-shaped bird, one was a shadow fox with three tails, and the last was a silver energy bird. The only common thing between them was the piercing golden eyes.
After a while, they bowed to him and started to turn into light particles, entering his body. Not understanding anything until he got hit by a wave of information in his mind. After looking at that info he sighed. "I see, now that explains all the pain I felt before I lost my consciousness."
The thing he sighed at was that his instinct had no real shape. What was named according to the information "The Mist" actually didn't have a real form, except the misty bird-shaped form without physical or psychic attack power. But he had two unique abilities: "Adaptivity" and "Elemental of Old."
The first simply gave Yuki the ability to adapt to anything he came into contact with.
The second, and probably one of the 'O.P.' abilities he saw, "Elemental of Old," meant that as long as he came into contact with a strong source of elemental energy, he got to unlock an elemental creature with full capabilities—from element manipulation to shapeshifting, along with the ability to transform his body to the said element.
He already had two elements, probably thanks to his parents—space and darkness—and that was the cause of the pain he felt before. Every time he got an element, his body would be rebuilt so he could use the said element without a problem.
Yuki closed his eyes for a moment, trying something. After a second, a pair of wings popped out of his back with a 1.5-meter span, pure silver in color. After seconds of observing his wings, he willed them to change.
The wings turned into transparent crystal, emitting faint mist and with a shorter span. Then again he closed his eyes, feeling the change, transforming back to silver-colored wings. Yuki opened his eyes and moved his wings a little, then started to fly around like he was born with them.
That was also thanks to the information he got before. He now had all the knowledge he needed to fly perfectly, as if he had since birth.
He sighed and stopped fooling around as he started to disappear, meaning it was time to wake up.
Back to Present
Waking up to the feeling of the sun's rays on my face, I noticed that I was still in the same bed, but this time I could somehow move my body. Sadly, my legs hurt though. Looking around, I found myself alone with all the medical machines gone. My mother probably left me alone to rest after I fell asleep.
'System, scan me.'

After looking for a while and getting more details, I nodded and started to try to stand up.
Although my body was healed and in top condition (for a kid), I needed to start to work on it, as the time my body was in a coma, and all the altering it got through thanks to my 'Awakening,' affected almost all the brain-body coordination. Add in the new things my body could do, it was almost like I needed to relearn using my body from scratch.
"So let's start with trying to stand up."
