Chapter 1072 - Prototype Gear (4)

Astra PoV

The things that I could make with actual materials that were catered for the Deerkin I had fallen so deeply in love with definitely looked a hundred times better than what I had made before, and yet even still there was a large amount of room for improvement.

What I had made was definitely high quality gear though, and seeing them in their current state gave me some ideas for the future, but for now they were what they needed to be; well crafted and usable pieces of gear that would then be used as a stepping stone to perfection later on.

For instance the spearhead was now made from a gorgeous alloy of brilliant gold and ruddy bronze that just looked incredible - the gold wasn't as bright as before and now there were streaks of this reddish brown throughout it that glittered in the light - while the wings were just from the bronze since it was a tad bit stronger on its own.

A byproduct of it being ONLY Earth Mana infused and nothing more compared to the shared elements of fire and earth in the gold... besides, it added a nice flare to the spearhead as well as a gradient that drew the eye towards the tip, working quite well in my own not so humble opinion.

The wood was where things got a little more difficult for me since I wanted a specific shade of reddish brown that wasn't too stereotypically wood but also something that wasn't utterly fantastical like the cherry wood I had that was slightly pink.

Finding the right variant of wood that fit my own designs needs was difficult, but eventually I found myself some cedar that I had acquired from Goddess knows where and realized that its more rustic red worked quite well with the spearhead.

Even more so when I stained some leather red and began to wrap some of the shaft in that to give Rhefia a better grip, leaving me with a very stylistic yet also incredibly functional spear that would serve my wife well... hopefully.

As for the armor I had a far easier time with that as I just kept it simple, durable and somewhat lightweight, with the only real 'concern' coming from the non metal materials I was going to need to use.

What I should and shouldn't do with her armor to make it as all purpose as possible was difficult since I wanted to lean into the barbaric sort of vibes we had gotten accustomed to during our time in Geard by using furs, but then there was the concerns of heat and also the looks...

But I couldn't just do plain leather because my wife deserved more than just plain leather, so I was stuck for just a little while as I thought it over, coming to the conclusion that some fur was definitely not a bad thing.

The armor was still somewhat simple altogether but considering it was meant to protect her I was willing to 'sacrifice' some style for the more important thing, which was protection; that only brought me to the final piece I needed to make for her, and that was something to defend her head.

A helmet should work but those were so insanely diverse in terms of style, wearability, functionality and so much more that I didn't know how to tackle it at first, but then the reminder of me having a System that just wanted to break what was considered normal hit me rather hard when I saw a recipe inside of it.

It was for a circlet that used two different soft ingots and then a Mana Crystal, using the mana to create a magical shroud over her head that would deflect projectiles, spells and other attacks to a certain degree, while still offering protection should they go 'through' the circlet.

Somehow, anyways...

Who was I to say no to that though?

So I made one up and called Rhefia back down, showing her all of the goodies meant for just her and feeling so excited as I watched her slowly suit up in her new armor; the leather boots and metal shinguards fit her snugly, as did her leather gloves and bracers as she fastened them on easily enough.

Then there was the buckling of her cuirass, which had soft leather padding inside as well as a somewhat decorative collar of fur that was just far enough from her neck to not irritate her but close enough to keep her warm.

I had done as she asked and made a single bulky pauldron for her left shoulder, padded with leather and sporting another decorative bit of fur that made her look far more like a mercenary than a soldier or normal warrior... so in other words she was far more charming and looked so dangerous too...

The pteruges - those long strips of leather that dangled from the bottom of her cuirass studded with bolts of metal - fell down to just above her knees, tying everything together and making the Deerkin nod as she stretched in her new armor, testing its movability and breathability while staring at me with a smile.

"Not too shabby~! Definitely could be a little more fitted but that likely was something I would need to be here for, but overall this is great! You look like you've had some fun with it as well, huh? Trying to make me look like some grizzled mercenary, aren't you~?"

"Potentially... If you could see yourself you might just realized how excellent my tastes are..."

"Oho~? Now isn't that a little worrying, dear~? I'm going to be going off and saving a village of people from evil bandits, and now I look even more handsome than usual as I do it~? Maybe some village girl'll end up wanting to 'thank' me before I depart..."

Walking up to her and helping her straighten some of the pieces out, I smiled back at her and said "I'd be more shocked if you came home and told me you DIDN'T lay with someone while you were gone... not that I particularly want it, but considering what'll be happening I know you'll need the relief."

"And how accepting you are... hey, while it's just us, why don't you get on your knees and help me test that out, hm? Let me see how easy it is to have a woman while I'm in this nice armor you made for me~!"

I rolled my eyes yet still ended up on the floor in front of her, eagerly sucking on her cock and shivering whenever I felt her run her gloved hand through my hair to pull me closer; seeing her in armor for the first time ever really did something to me that I wasn't prepared for... but apparently she was.
