Alya's inquiry was met with a very normal expression from Smith.
"People on the World Crown? There's no one left there, it's all ruins. When the World Crown collapsed, everyone on it perished."
Deep appeared somewhat anxious, "How could there be no one? There should still be a building up there where Shanshan usually lived! You could even call it her nest!"
Smith, the Governor of the World Crown, seemed quite helpless at this point. He insisted multiple times that there was truly no one up there, and if there were lights, those living below wouldn't possibly miss them.
The enthusiasm was real, but when Deep proposed to personally inspect, the other side immediately declined, stating that it was monsoon season for the World Crown and no one was allowed on the island temporarily.
Upon returning to the Unicorne, the couple silently exchanged glances. Deep's plan to find out Charles's whereabouts through Shanshan hit a snag from the start.
