At the border between the Empire and the Duchy, there was a magical town. The left half of the town belonged to the Empire, and the right half belonged to the Duchy. The river in the center of the town was the dividing line between the two countries.
The residents of the Duchy and the Empire were supposed to have enjoyed fairly good relations originally.
