Chapter 119 - Chapter 119 - Attacking the Wall 02.

[Chapter Size: 2500 Words.]

Third Person POV.

Westeros.

...

...

Rain, lightning, and wind dominated the landscape on that night full of terror for the Night's Watch...

Then, the white creature was finally seen approaching the Wall.

Jeor Mormont expected his end at that very moment, along with his companions, who were all at his side, looking at the creature that was over 20 meters tall, while the dragon was about to unleash its flames upon them.

And so it was.

The irises of its eyes glowed, reflecting the white light that came out of the creature's mouth like an abstract and continuous avalanche in the sky, illuminating and crystallizing the falling rain it touched.

Its cryogenic breath was at least –273.15 °C, absolute zero, no wonder this power had destroyed entire castles in the south while people quickly died just by being nearby, even dozens of meters away. No wonder many servants and soldiers ended up dying later, on the morning after the night of the attack, when they were left disabled after breathing air at such a low temperature, suffering a thermal shock.

Daemon had controlled himself at Clegane's stronghold, but at Ser Amory Lorch's house, Daemon didn't hold back and everyone ended up dying as he froze all the air around the castle.

Ice was more nefarious than fire, for it spread in silence, unseen, and quickly reached the noses, with lungs being affected by the deadly air immediately.

Those who expected to be struck immediately felt the impact. But instead of meeting death, the white flames passed over them like a wild river, while at the same time an extreme cold front and humidity struck them for being so close to that deadly white fire, screaming in pain, for it burned just the same.

Quickly, the ceiling above — two small hatches at that point of the Wall — began to freeze, while the men retreated, feeling paralyzed by the cold, and all the torches began to go out.

Jeor Mormont felt a sharp pain in his lungs as he felt his beard stiffen, while his body also froze even though the flames were meters away.

The flames remained strong as the dragon flapped its wings, quickly ascending again.

Jeor Mormont was stunned to see the white dragon against the lightning-filled sky, turning around and returning, advancing along the Wall as it continued to unleash white flames over them, freezing anything meters away as it passed.

"I can't...!" a man exclaimed with effort, as he felt blood coming from his mouth, beginning to fall, unable to breathe. No sooner had he spoken, his mouth froze along with his throat and began to cut him.

"Attack!" — shouted Jeor Mormont, as his body trembled and his mouth also froze, feeling the sharp, cutting pain in his throat.

But no one moved.

The men looked on in despair, unable to speak, as their bodies continued to freeze, something like 'Lord Commander, we have to get out of here!'

One of them ran, before tripping and falling from the Wall, his body paralyzed, as everything turned to ice forming before the extreme cold generated by the flames in the air — far more intense than anything anyone there had ever faced in life.

And the scariest part: those white flames weren't even hitting them directly, just continuing overhead.

Jeor Mormont knew that if they retreated, it would be the end. The army below could advance against the gate.

"No... We can't retreat..." — he murmured, with the effects of the chaotic weather muffling his voice as his mouth bled, but he had his duty there.

His men looked at him uncertainly, as the dragon once again flew overhead, unleashing flames.

Even ice stones were falling, formed by raindrops freezing in the air. They felt the heavy impacts on their heads — one of the men collapsed, as none of them wore helmets.

'We must hold the line... Even if we die here. We can't let the Wall fall! The Seven Kingdoms depend on us! If they invade...' — he wanted to say those words, but his mouth froze at that moment.

Suddenly, something fell behind Mormont. He looked, trembling from the cold, as someone appeared there with the dragon passing overhead with a roar.

"I see you're quite determined, Lord Commander... So be it. Then... Do you intend to let them all die?" — Daemon appeared atop the Wall at that moment, in front of everyone. He had simply jumped from Winter at the right moment.

Hearing Daemon speak even in that weather left everyone stunned, unable to open their mouths to speak, and Jeor Mormont didn't even have time to react before receiving a punch from Daemon, knocking him to the ground in the next moment.

"And now you have no chance. You have fewer than a thousand men... And there are more than a hundred thousand warriors out there ready to face you!" — Daemon roared his command, easily audible even in that chaos, using his Thu'um.

The men of the Watch stared at him, still trembling, while quickly drawing their swords and pointing them at Daemon. They would not yield to that monster after everything, despite the fear, and some started running away.

"So be it." — Daemon said, emotionless, as he pulled his axe out of nowhere, which began to glow to the point that its blade grew and transformed into a massive ice blade, before he spun it and hurled it toward the men in front of him on one side of the Wall.

The men barely had time to react, already covered in frost. The spinning axe tore through them, cutting many in half. It moved with such force that almost no one managed to escape. The screams of terror were muffled by the storm.

Daemon then raised his hand, and the axe returned to him, before he continued advancing, leaving a trail of dead behind him, with only a few having managed to duck in time, even with their bodies entirely frozen.

They looked at all the blood scattered around, as men lived out their last moments, groaning among the severed bodies. It was a true scene of horror before they looked up at the monster, who held the axe and dispelled the crystalline blade around it, breaking the ice and returning it to its normal form.

The watchmen on the other side, where Daemon hadn't thrown the axe, were paralyzed, swallowing hard as they saw the line of corpses, with none of them advancing to face Daemon after that.

"This is a battle you've already lost... with your lives. I'd recommend surrendering soon. We will kill anyone who raises a sword against us." — Daemon said, before Winter approached him.

He simply jumped off the Wall, looking back at it one last time, before Daemon fired purple energy, beginning to open several portals.

Lightning atronachs, five creatures, emerged as the light faded, made of stone and lightning levitating them, made even more powerful by the storm, which was their elemental environment, enhancing Daemon's conjurations.

They quickly searched for enemies coming from all directions. The men of the Watch were still paralyzed after seeing the carnage their enemy had caused there, while Jeor was still lying on the ground.

They began firing lightning at the Night's Watch soldiers from all directions. The first fell, struck instantly, killed with a single blow, as the electricity was too much for the human body to withstand.

Even with over four hundred watchmen atop the Wall, against only five of those creatures, they began to run in desperation, watching their comrades being massacred by lightning so fast it was impossible to dodge.

Daemon kept falling, until Winter appeared above him, diving swiftly before grabbing him from behind and gliding again, using his Warg abilities to place him safely atop the dragon in a perfect maneuver mid-fall.

Daemon then decided to head for the main gate of Castle Black, diving down toward the base of the Wall.

Now that the Night's Watch troops were trapped at the top of the Wall, heavily occupied dealing with the summoned mystical creatures they didn't even know how to kill — or even run properly with the ice still paralyzing their bodies — and with the conjurations already decimating many of them, several began retreating down the stairs.

Daemon saw it was the moment for his men to act while they were still standing by, and quickly unleashed a powerful Thu'um loud enough to be heard across the entire region, even through the storm.

"Attention, all! Advance! Advance to the Wall!" — Daemon shouted.

Then Winter slammed into the ground the next moment, landing at the gate's entrance.

Quickly, the men in position, even under the intense rain, began marching forward, already forming up before the main gate. The storm obscured visibility, and at that moment, they had no idea where to head. But that didn't last long, as Daemon began summoning more atronachs, now of the fire element in front of the gate, guiding the men with the intense glow of the flames amidst the storm.

The dragon was still now, and Daemon could feel the fear of the men hidden behind the gate after his arrival. Winter landed forcefully, shaking the ground and making the soldiers tremble.

Daemon descended from the dragon, walking past the atronachs and looking through the gate. He could see the glow of torches and sense the fear easily with his magical sight.

There were at least 80 men holding the gate, visible through his magical vision.

Without saying another word, he took a deep breath. It was time to end it. He still wanted to keep the Wall intact, which was why he hadn't unleashed a destructive force on it. But the gate was different — he could rebuild it much more easily than the structure atop the Wall.

The men there were trembling.

The roars from the sky and white flames lit everything, even amidst the storm. They had seen it all below the Wall before coming to the gate.

They used to say magic was impossible, but now they could only pray to survive the monster who had arrived before the gate.

"Fus Ro Dah!"

As soon as they heard the words, the thunderous sound made their ears shake. The gate exploded as the force of the Shout surged forward, knocking down the front men, crushing them with debris. The gate was split into dozens of sharp shards, massacring at least twenty soldiers.

When the dust settled, their eyes turned to the shattered entrance. There stood Daemon, soaked by the very rain he had summoned, calmly looking at them. He held his axe, and behind him was the dragon, with pillars of flame in human form beside the entrance — no one knew what they were.

Immediately, all began to retreat, staring at the bodies of their comrades on the ground.

"All of this could've been avoided. After all, we need the Night's Watch to protect the realm of men." Daemon remarked that with some tedium.

"Quick! Archer line!" — they shouted in desperation, as men ran to grab bows. One of them, trembling, tried to aim, but before they could shoot, Daemon began walking, entering the line of soldiers without any hesitation — even with more than a dozen arrows pointed at him.

"Fire!" — desperation took over the defenses, and dozens of arrows were launched at Daemon.

But he merely raised his free hand.

The arrows, as they approached, stopped in midair, suspended statically, controlled by telekinesis.

"Well... I won't say you didn't have your chance." — Daemon remarked, as everyone looked on in terror.

Without giving them time to grab another arrow, he tossed those aside, and a sword appeared in Daemon's hand — the legendary Dark Sister.

He began to run, gaining speed as he charged at them with the Leviathan axe in his right hand and Dark Sister in his left, advancing toward the men.

"Su Grah Dun!"

He quickly used his Thu'um, creating an impact as he ran toward the crowd of soldiers. Some tried to react, but were struck down brutally.

Others, in desperation, tried to flee, but it was already too late.

Daemon began a massacre inside Castle Black as his weapons moved at impossible speed, but thanks to his Thu'um, he was also signaling to the Free Folk that the gate had fallen — something already expected after the explosions heard at the entrance.

"Seal the entrance, quickly!" — shouted the watchmen, activating the emergency mechanisms, with stones and ice slabs prepared above the gate on the wall, to seal it if needed.

There, Ser Thorne was leading the operation. Quickly, the men rushed out while others worked to seal the entrance, cutting the ropes that held the structures above the gate.

Soon, everything began to collapse. Giant stones fell at that moment, and part of the Wall also gave way. Some men, still trying to flee, were crushed instantly. The gate was finally completely sealed, and the defenders sighed in relief at that moment... but now they had to worry about the dragon — and no longer about wildlings trying to invade this side of the Wall on foot.

Alliser approached, seeing everything was in order, while his men trembled on the ground as if they had faced something terrifying while fighting the monster.

But the next moment, the stone- and ice-covered ground in front of Alliser began to tremble. He simply watched, stunned, wondering what was happening... until everything exploded. The impact was devastating.

Alliser himself was crushed along with other comrades, their bodies hurled in all directions by the explosion as stones struck many of them.

It was Daemon. He had used another Thu'um — the same Fus Ro Dah — now with its power maximally amplified, clearing the entire obstruction at the entrance and making the very Wall tremble. Whoever was with him in the tunnel and still alive went deaf instantly from the blast of a Shout like that in such an enclosed space.

Daemon entered the courtyard of Castle Black in the next moment, while everyone looked on in fear, as he walked holding both weapons — the axe and Dark Sister — his body covered in blood after having cut down dozens of enemies along the way.

From the other side, Winter began flying over the Wall before heading toward the interior of Castle Black, going exactly to where Daemon was now.

At the same time, the Free Folk finally arrived at the entrance, marking the path, and in the following moments, the Free Folk entered the tunnel.

Advancing quickly to reach Daemon, crossing the corpses he had left scattered across the ground, with the gate completely destroyed.

The Wall had fallen at that moment — and there was nothing the Night's Watch could do to reverse the situation.
