Chapter 306 - Devotion and Distraction

Alicia shifted slightly, sitting upright despite the dull protest of her limbs. Adrien didn't move. He stayed close—far too close—his presence a quiet command even in stillness. Her fingers toyed with the edge of the oversized shirt as she thought.

"A prize…" she murmured, more to herself than him.

She rubbed at one eye, then yawned, her entire body sagging. "Honestly? Right now, all I want is a good, deep sleep. Nothing more than that… well, maybe to stop feeling like I got hit by a snow-plough," she added with a groggy half-smile.

Adrien didn't respond right away. His eyes stayed on her face—steady, unreadable. There was no teasing smirk this time, no cutting flirtation. Just that unnerving, shadowed focus of his. She couldn't tell if he was disappointed, or if he'd been expecting something else entirely.

But then he moved.
