The day had turned out to be beautiful, despite the minor, highly embarrassing mishap Eli had suffered earlier that morning. The two of them proceeded to work as they usually did, but the moment they stepped inside the hospital, an incident occurred that made Eli seriously contemplate digging a hole in the floor and burying himself alive.
After parking in his usual spot, Eli walked through the hospital entrance alongside Belle, casually greeting their colleagues.
Right on cue, Allen appeared, instantly launching into his usual routine of trying to get under Eli's skin. Attempting to maintain his dignity, Eli ignored the bait, focusing instead on walking with a calculated, cool composure. Because he kept his eyes locked entirely on Belle—partly to ensure Allen wouldn't pull any underhanded stunts—he failed to notice the bright yellow "Caution: Wet Floor" sign positioned directly in his path.
In a split second, his feet flew out from under him.
