It took Abaddon longer than he wanted to make significant headway with the afflicted gods. And in the end, he still did not get to finish.
Once Lailah saw him sweating again, she immediately called everything off.
She dispensed a tonic she had created amongst Shin and the members of the order. They, in turn, dispersed it among the remaining deities.
After drinking, the gods fell into a deep sleep. Their bodies no longer seemed tormented by the affliction in their minds and rested like the dead.
Abaddon sighed apologetically. "I'm sorry about this, Shin. I'll be back as soon as-"
Lailah placed her hand over her husband's chest protectively. "He'll be back as soon as I've medically cleared him, and not a second before."
Even though he wasn't the one being scolded, Shin nodded his head fervently. "Mhm, yup, that's fine, no worries."
Lailah was the one wife Shin felt uncomfortable being around for long periods of time. She scared him more than everyone else.
