Chapter 6 - A steep cost

She was coming to. She could feel the soft mattress and cotton sheets. She felt warm, almost too warm. She could smell three different people near by and heard them speaking in hushed voices.

"Hot bath but he is determined to-" Valkiera heard someone hissing at someone else as she came back to the world of the living.

"If you two would shut the fuck up for a minute, I can do my job!" Someone next to her snarled furiously. "Your grace, how are you feeling?" He asked more gently and she knew that he was talking to her. For a moment she believed her eyes were still closed as the room was pitch black. "It seems you went into heat this morning and his majesty was not prepared for it."

"Are- Are you there?" She asked in a panic as she waved her hands out in front of her. "Why is it so dark?" She whimpered and she felt strong arms wrap around her tiny body.

"It's the middle of the day, your grace, can't you see that?" The question took her off guard and then suddenly she saw a light blue aura erupt in the direction of the voice.

"I-I-I can't. I can't see anything." She whimpered pathetically.

"What the fuck?" Someone whispered and she saw another aura light up. She whimpered

"Could it be the fever?" King Viego asked and a warm purple aura filled her vision. It surrounded her and hid her from the rest of the world.

"I'm not sure. I've never heard of the heat fever causing blindness before." The gentle man said and she heard the clinking of metal instruments close by. "I'll have to do some research. Until then she will need help. Also her cervix is badly bruised. I recommend a hot bath and some relaxation. If the heat becomes unbearable for her you can assist with oral stimulation."

"Thank you, Thaston. I will keep it in mind." With that he let go of Vakiera and ushered every one out of the room. It wasn't long before he was pulling the blanket back and lifting her in his arms. He silently walked somewhere and lowered her into a vat of hot water.

"Wait! Wait!" She pleaded as she tossed about in search of the edge of the vat.

"It's just the tub, love. You're okay. I'm right here." Viego said soothingly and she heard the rustling of clothing being removed. She heard the tell tale splash of him entering the tub, then he pulled her back into his chest, holding her tightly against him. "We will figure this out, Valkiera. I promise we will figure it out."
