Storm lay awake. Chase's head was on her stomach and held her so tightly, and she played with his hair as he slept.
Everything had been wild, the way Chase's father lost his temper; she felt sad that Chase found it normal to be treated like that.
Her throat closed at the thought of him getting beaten up and him thinking that it was okay; he had been treated like this his whole life.
It made her blood boil that he let his father do this to him, and she could not forget how Kelsey had been so smug and enjoyed the treatment that she had gotten from his father.
The following day, he dropped her off at her friend's, and she knew that his father wanted to talk to him alone without her.
"He did what?" it was Meghan.
"Yep, he beat him up pretty bad."
"What in the world is going on?" This time, it was Paige.
"Everything is just not working out for us."
"His father is very intense; we have heard about him, and no one dares to go against his order," Paige replied.
"Yep, he won't allow Chase to do as he pleases. he is very high on him fulfilling his role and won't take any no or disrespect," Meghan added.
"When I think Chase and I have to plan, this comes crashing down on us."
"So you told Jeremy that you are back with Chase," Meghan replied.
"I did and he was pissed, and he said something that bothered me so much."
"What is that,".
That Chase had broken up with me because he got bored."
Both Meghan and Paige's faces told her everything that she needed to know, so they both thought the same way as Jeremy.
"Shit."
"Time will tell, Storm," Paige added.
"I just feel overwhelmed. When will this end?"
"Love has to be worth fighting for," Meghan replied.
"Has he told you he loves you back?" This time, it was Paige.
She groaned. "No, and I don't want to push him or force him to tell me and feel a certain way that he does not feel about me."
"Let's have some fun then, shall we."
They went shopping, to watching movies, and it was late, and they went back, she got into the house and froze, it was Chase, Kelsey and his father.
They had not noticed her, so she backtracked slowly and started to go after her friends, but a voice crept in, and she decided to go to the cave.
"You think I did not smell your scent."
She turned to Chase, "I didn't think you saw me."
"I did." He seemed dejected as he sat behind her, and she leaned back into his arms, "Is your father okay with you leaving?"
"Who cares what he thinks."
"I......….."
"Please don't press me Storm, when I'm with you it's the only time that I can get a break."
"Okay,"
He rested his head on the shoulder of her neck, "I love your scent."
"You really must like me then."
"I love everything about you Storm."
Her heart beat fast; had he just said he loved her, or was he saying it differently?
Chase seemed as if he did not want to go back to his place, and there was so much to unpack, but he seemed at peace.
She was happy that out of everyone he had, she was his resting place; he was very vulnerable with her.
"Wouldn't it be nice to be in a place where it's just you and I with none of these problems?"
"I would love that, Chase. at least we have this place to ourselves."
"I'm still surprised you managed to find this place. no-one dares to go this far into the woods, let alone think of climbing down a cave."
"Let's just say my curiosity and the need to be fully alone got the best of me."
"Tonight, I don't want to go back."
The way he said it made her heart clench. "We don't have to."
Chase made himself more comfortable, and his breathing got deeper. he had fallen asleep, and she looked down at his angelic face.
He would be definitely up there with Apollo, she put her phone on mute; she didn't want him to wake up.
The water sounds made it all the more magical, the moon that glistened, his scent was very alluring, she took her phone and took some pictures of him.
He looked so peaceful without a care in the world, she wished he would stay like this forever, without all the pressures that he had to face.
If it was easy, she would let him go so that he could fulfill duties but Storm could not, but she sighed; how far she was willing to go for him was scary.
He kissed the top of her head...........
