-Wizard City Ruins-
The sun peeked out in the distance, barely illuminating the interior of the semi-destroyed canyon with some light. It seemed as if a natural disaster had struck and ravaged the place. Traces of dried blood could be seen on the ground.
But the most striking sight was an enormous corpse the size of a building with the features of several animals, split in half, with a dried heart hanging from its ribs and a trail of blood leading to the city gate.
This was the landscape encountered by the humanoid animals who emerged from a portal in the center of the ruins.
Hundreds of mages pouring out of dozens of portals crowded into the ruins, anxiously looking around for any trace of the people they had come to find, only to be surprised by the enormous corpse with somewhat familiar features.
They had tried for months to open the portals to rescue their leaders, but each day they failed, until today when the portals unexpectedly activated.
News spread quickly among the clans, who flocked to the portals in the hope of finding their loved ones on the other side.
Snakes, lions, ravens, and badgers of various features and sizes scattered anxiously, searching for traces of their leaders, while the elders went to study the corpse.
All noticed that the corpse exhibited features that belonged to their leaders, but none truly wanted to accept the possibility that their leader had transformed into a hideous monster.
"Lord Serpentus! You need to see this!"
The atmosphere of gravity surrounding the elders of the four clans studying the corpse was interrupted by a young serpent who ran up to the serpent elder.
The young male anxiously led them toward the most intact building left in the entire city, although it seemed that something had gone through it from side to side, destroying the walls.
Many could easily recognize Sly's signature in that destroyed laboratory, but there was no trace of him, to the disappointment of a serpent woman following the elders.
Finally, before losing hope, they decided to explore the characteristic basement that every serpent clan laboratory hides.
They went down the stairs into absolute darkness and finally came across several objects placed in the center of the basement.
A feather, a claw, a recipe book, and a fang formed a circle that enclosed a letter in the center.
The elders, nervous as they recognized the objects belonging to their respective clan leaders, carefully took the letter and read it aloud.
"If you're reading this, it means Blanche won and the magic returned. We really don't know if our plan will work, but we have no other choice. If we win, we left a spell in the letter that activates using something related to us. That should allow you to see our memories since we arrived in this land called OOO. We're sorry we can't return, and we'd like to say more, but our friend is losing the battle. We will always love you with all our hearts."
The leaders, already fearing the worst, turned the letter over and anxiously read the written spell while holding the objects.
"Concedo tibi aditum ad id quod me format si habes quod capit et in tuo corde amat!"
Once they recited the incantation aloud, the objects emitted a blinding glow, merging into a glowing orb that shot to the surface.
The orb then transformed into a huge mirror under the gaze of all the mages in the room and the elders who rushed out of the basement.
The huge mirror displayed the memories of the four leaders simultaneously.
Their arrival through the portal, the loss of magic, the encounter with a mysterious white-haired traveler capable of ice magic, the "peaceful" conversation, the slow reconstruction of the city center, how each day the friendship between the group and the traveler developed, the moments where they shared how much they missed their loved ones, the celebration, the drunkenness, and Sly's fate.
With tears in her eyes, Sly's fiancée, Medusa, watched as he, in his desperation to return, was bewitched and transformed into a monster.
The arrival to rescue the strange traveler, the origin of the monster Cocontepi, the battle of the deity against the traveler, the sacrifice of his Leaders and the traveler cutting the deity in half to finally eat its heart.
In the end, the mirror simply went out and disappeared into thin air.
As time passed, this story would be engraved on the wall of Wizard City, and the four noble wizards who sacrificed themselves were remembered as the founders of Wizard City. With the reconstruction of the city in their honor, four stone statues of each were built so they would never be forgotten.
As for the strange traveler, Blanche Petrikov, slayer of deities, his legend spread throughout the magical community, but all attempts to contact him were in vain.
-OOO year 155-
-In a vast meadow of green grass-
a hooded figure walked slowly, seeming to be enjoying the cool breeze that gently swayed the grass, with the sun at its highest point illuminating the entire landscape.
"Hey, you! Don't you want magical powers? Powers beyond mortal comprehension!"
The hooded stranger's peaceful stroll was interrupted by a strange and sinister skeleton dressed in a black robe that appeared out of nowhere.
The strange walker didn't seem surprised by the skeleton and simply muttered to himself, "I guess today's my lucky day."
The stranger stared at the skeleton, the skeleton laughing grimly. No intelligent person would accept anything this creature offered.
"I accept, but I want a keychain first."
"[Grim laugh] So we have a deal... what was the keychain?"
-Blanche POV-
I walked through the bizarre portal with a farting sound, and when I turned around, it seemed like it was made of butts. These wizards who migrated to OOO these last 35 years really have strange tastes.
Holding a skeletal hand turned into a keychain, I looked around at the desolate landscape filled with what looked like pyramids in the distance, and a huge meteorite that seemed frozen in time shone in the sky.
In addition to a small cemetery that didn't give off good vibes but seemed empty, with only a couple of graves inside.
As I inspected the surroundings behind me, the temple door abruptly opened, and a humanoid toad dressed in a robe with a star in the center and two purple hats emerged.
"Welcome, stranger. If you want magical powers, you must seek Bufo."
The toad inflated its neck, creating a transparent bubble where several tadpoles with purple hats floated, introducing themselves, speaking in unison.
"I am Bufo, stranger." Hooded man, if you're looking for magical powers, this is the place. Completely free, I might add. Do you accept?
"Sure, I just need you to answer one question first."
"Ask me, Stranger. In my infinite wisdom, I can answer any questions you may have."
"What's keeping that meteorite stationary in the sky?"
"That's easy. A powerful spell fueled by the magical power of at least three powerful wizards is keeping the meteorite in place."
"Very well, answer one last question, and I'll gladly join your pirate version of Hogwarts."
"Of course, strange boy. I have nothing to hide."
"What are those graves for?"
"-_-"
"-_-"
Both remained in an awkward silence that lasted a few seconds until Bufo answered hesitantly.
"They're for decoration, they give the place a... joy."
"I don't know why, but I don't believe you."
"Really? That's truly a shame—GO TO SLEEP!"
The spell shot out of Bufo's hands without hesitation toward me, only to disappear the moment it came into contact with my body.
Although I did manage to get my hood off, I guess it's something.
The tadpoles, confused by the sudden disappearance of the spell, looked at the young man in front of them, his eyes hidden by blue glasses, white hair, and sharp fangs.
Their small eyes widened as they recognized who they had encountered, and their small bodies felt the temperature around them suddenly cool.
The god-slayer and dark wizard hunter.
Although he was sought by the founding clans of Wizard City, they never found him.
The only ones who managed to see him in person were the Dark Wizards, at least in their final moments, and those he rescued from the hands of Dark Wizards.
But everyone knew who he was just by looking at him, as his legend was spread by all the original inhabitants of Wizard City who witnessed his battle.
Snow-white hair, pale skin, sharp teeth, and eyes always hidden by blue glasses.
And now this bogeyman for the Dark Wizards stood before Bufo, his blue glasses hiding any expression his eyes might show.
"If you surrender now, I could deliver you to Wizard City without having to freeze you first, just because we're old acquaintances, in a way."
Bufo, confused by Blanche's words, woke from his stupor and, ignoring his fear, tried to perform one last spell with all his might.
"Arrogant human! I will teach you the pinnacle of black magic! AVADA-."
From one second to the next, Bufo was overwhelmed by an extreme cold that transformed him into a statue posing with one hand raised, proof of his last resistance.
"[Sigh] They never listen."
With Bufo frozen, only Blanche and a meteorite the size of a building remained, floating frozen in the sky, surely being stopped by three wizards hanging from ropes inside the school.
"Very well, now to conclude matters."
Blanche slowly drew the Leviathan axe from his back with his right hand and looked up at the meteorite frozen in the sky. he assumed a throwing position and performed a throw that propelled the axe at full speed toward the meteorite.
The axe grew smaller and smaller until it disappeared from sight, as if swallowed by the enormous rock for a few seconds, and returned at full speed to Blanche's hand.
"That should do it, and 3.....2...1."
Slowly, small cracks expanded until they covered the entire surface of the meteorite. Finally, transforming into enormous fissures that ended up dividing it into hundreds of small fragments that finally fell harmlessly all over the ground.
- A while later-
Blanche watched with a smile and waved goodbye to the three small wizards who were dragging the frozen Bufo towards Wizard City as he instructed.
"Another pointless act, saving three insignificant creatures and defeating an embarrassment to the dark wizards, pathetic."
"[Sigh] I really need to find your mute button, you always ruin my mood, Cocontepi."
After "killing" him by eating his heart, I gained an increase in all my magical and mental abilities, but everything comes at a price. Being a being that existed before the concept of time and death, Cocontepi technically cannot die. His physical form can be destroyed, but his essence cannot.
So by absorbing his essence, I gained his ability to negate magic, since he was the origin of magic in the multiverse. He can't be harmed by it, but his essence still retains some of his consciousness that comes out to annoy me whenever it can.
My only consolation is that it doesn't happen very often. I can feel that over time, his consciousness is losing strength due to his essence slowly integrating with me every day.
The day will come when my consciousness will assimilate to his and I will take his place as the origin of all magic. Of course, there are still about 500 years to go.
500 years in which I have to endure his voice in my mind trying to provoke me to spit him out.
Meh, I guess it's never too late to remember that everything has a price.
