Chapter 162: Uzumaki Itsuki
KONOHA HOSPITAL
5 FEBRUARY - KONOHA YEAR 37
"Honey, just push a little bit, you can do it," said Raiken softly.
"Arghhhhhhhh," Mikoto pushed with everything she had left, the severe pain of contraction tightening her grip on his arm even further. Raiken, despite having a body built similar to the Raikage than any ordinary man, could still feel the strain of her grip, but he let it happen without complaint.
He remembered reading once, back in his old world, about husbands whose hands had been crushed during childbirth thanks to the wife grip that his bones broke under the sheer intensity of that man wife grip. Raiken felt he is fortunate that his body was reinforced enough to take his wife grip without breaking his bones, though even now there was a dull ache spreading up toward his elbow.
The medical ninja standing at the foot of the bed called out Mikoto, trying to calm her down while make sure she push their child.
"The head is almost out, Mikoto sama. One more big push."
"I can't," gasped Mikoto, her hair sticking to her forehead, tears gathering at the corners of her eyes from sheer exhaustion.
"You can," said Raiken, leaning down close to her ear, his voice low and steady despite the pain in his own arm. "You have done everything right honey, Just one more push, don't worry I am right here just beside you."
Mikoto looked at him, her breathing ragged and something in his eyes seemed to give her the last bit of strength she needed.
"Ahhhhhh!"
A sharp cry from Mikoto cut through the room and a second later they can heard the baby cried.
The medical ninja lifted the baby carefully, the small body still slick and trembling, and the cry grew louder and steadier, filling the room with a sound that made every tense muscle in Mikoto body finally begin to loosen.
"It is a boy," said the medical ninja, smiling as she wrapped the baby gently in a clean cloth.
Raiken stared at the small bundle being placed against Mikoto chest, his usual composure slipping for just a moment as something in his chest tightened, he had not fully prepared himself for seeing his own child, even after months of anticipating this exact moment.
"Husband," whispered Mikoto, looking down at their son and then up at him, exhaustion and joy mixing together on her face. "We have a son."
Raiken reached out and gently touched the baby tiny hand, watching as small fingers curled instinctively around his own.
"Yeah," he said quietly, his voice rougher than he intended. "We do."
The baby let out a small sound and both of them laughed softly, Mikoto smiled despire how tired she were.
"What should we name him?" asked Mikoto.
Raiken looked down at the baby for a long moment, already turning the question over carefully in his mind.
"Uzumaki Itsuki," smiled Raiken while looking at his wife. "Itsuki means a single tree or one massive, sturdy tree. It symbolizes someone who stands independent, strong, and reliable. I hope our child can become strong and reliable in the future."
Suddenly Itsuki chuckled a bit.
"It looks like Itsuki like his name," commented Mikoto.
...
Kushina leaned over the small crib with her chin resting on her folded arms, peering down at her tiny nephew.
"He has your nose, brother," she commented loud so Raiken could heard her voice.
"He does not have my nose," said Raiken from across the room, not even looking up from the scroll he was reading. "He is two weeks old, he does not have anyone nose yet."
"He has your nose," repeated Kushina with total confidence, leaning in closer until her face was barely a few inches from the sleeping baby. "Itsuki.... Itsuki, Can you hear me? Your aunt is the cool one in this family."
Itsuki, completely unbothered by Kushina action continued sleeping.
"He is asleep," said Mikoto gently from the chair beside the crib, though there was a clear amusement in her voice that she was not bothering to hide.
"He is pretending," said Kushina. "Babies are smart, they just act dumb so people leave them alone."
"That does sound like something you would say," said Raiken while trying to hide his amusement.
Kushina shot him a look over her shoulder.
"I was a genius from Uzumaki Clan," said Kushina. "Everyone said so, that is why I know Itsuki are just acting."
"Everyone said you cried for six hours straight the day you were born," said Raiken trying to tease his sister.
"You are baby too at that time," said Kushina without missing a beat.
Mikoto laughed softly, covering her mouth with her hand so she would not wake the baby and Kushina turned back to the crib, gently poking one tiny finger near Itsuki cheek.
"Hey," she whispered. "Hey, Itsuki. When you get older I am going to teach you all the cool jutsu before your dad does. He is going to make you do boring chakra control exercises first. I will skip straight to the fun stuff."
"You will do no such thing," said Raiken.
"He cannot hear you, he is two weeks old," said Kushina.
"I can hear myself just fine," said Raiken.
Kushina ignored him completely and kept her attention on the crib, her voice softening slightly from teasing.
"You are going to have it so easy," she murmured. "Both clans already love you, Grandpa Hikaku has been telling everyone in the Uchiha compound about you for two weeks straight."
"He has," said Mikoto, smiling. "He brought three different elders by yesterday just to see him sleep."
"See, that is what I mean," said Kushina, straightening up and looking at her brother with a grin. "Everyone in this family is obsessed with this tiny guy already."
"He is easy to be obsessed with," said Raiken, finally setting his scroll down and walking over to stand beside her, looking down at his son, his face softened the moment his eyes landed on him.
Kushina glanced sideways at her brother face and then smirked.
"You are doing the soft dad face again," said Kushina.
"I do not have a soft dad face," said Raiken. "This is responsible dad face."
"Sure," said Kushina, clearly not convinced, before turning her attention back to the crib and gently brushing a strand of hair away from Itsuki tiny forehead.
Mikoto watched the two of them, brother and sister, both leaning slightly toward the same crib and felt something warm settle comfortably in her chest.
