Chapter 78: New Police Force
---Uchiha New Police Force---
The reformation of the Konoha Military Police Force had completely changed the face of this organization.
Now, every platoon consisted of mixed members from shinobi, civilians and representatives from several clans such as Inuzuka, Aburame, Yamanaka, and Nara. The once-exclusive Uchiha force had turned into a symbol of cooperation, unity and equality.
However, not every clan made it through the selection. The Hyuga Clan application was rejected due to the long-standing rivalry between the two clans, while the Shimura, Sarutobi, Utatane, and Mitokado clans were denied for reasons everyone quietly understood, they already have status influence in the village before, though now Shimura and Mitokado had been kicked out from their position. Still their presence are undesirable for the Uchiha Clan, it is tetter to reject them now than deal with conflict later.
Among the new recruits was a young woman named Kurenai, a civilian who couldn't use chakra. She was once try to enter ninja academy but because she failed, she was denied from entering ninja academy.
Her acceptance in police Force had caused a stir during the interview, thanks to Uchiha Shinobu who clarified it later. It was because of her skills in arithmetic and management made her a valuable asset for record-keeping, budgeting, and logistics. Now, she stood among the new recruits in the Police Force training ground, though she still nervous but people could see on her eyes that she is deadly serious with her work.
"Alright, everyone!" A voice echoed across the training ground. It was Uchiha Shinobu, one of the captains assigned to train the new recruits from civillian side.
"From today onward, you will be learning how to use chakra. Even if you've never used it before, don't worry our goal is to help you master the basics."
Kurenai stood stiffly, clutching the hem of her uniform. "U-Um… Captain Shinobu, I'm a civilian. I don't even know if I have chakra."
Shinobu turned toward her, his expression softening. "Everyone has chakra, Kurenai. The difference is control and awareness. We'll help you control yours."
"I am sorry to interrupt captain but wasn't the reason I was hired because of my skill in management?" asked Kurenai.
"Yes true, but as a police force you still need to learn how to use chakra," replied Uchiha Shinobu.
Hearing this Kurenai nodded and every newly recruited civillian also understand and agreed to the training.
Shinobu then explained the chakra properties, how to control and detect them and after that he crouched and placed a leaf on his own forehead. "Let's start simple. The leaf exercise. Focus your energy here, on the leaf. Keep it still with your chakra and those who don't know just imagine water flowing through your body."
The other who saw this also mimicked captain Shinobu. Everyone picked up leaf and also use training method where they imagine the flow of water moved inside their body. Some civillian fainted because of overuse of chakra. They never use chakra before so it was understandable why they easily fainted after using it for like 2 minutes.
Kurenai leaf barely stay still for a seconds before it just slid down her forehead immediately.
"Don't push too hard," said Shinobu, walking behind her. "Breathe. Chakra is like water in a stream not too forceful, not too weak. It must flow smoothly."
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Slowly, she felt a faint warmth near her heart, then her stomach. Her brow furrowed, the leaf trembled, then finally stayed in place.
"I did it!" she gasped.
"Good," Shinobu smiled. "That's your chakra. Remember that feeling. Once you can maintain it longer, we'll move to the next step."
The other recruits cheered softly. For many, this was the first time they had felt the pulse of chakra inside them.
That day, something inside the civilians awakened hope to become the best, pride they upgraded themselves from civillian, and belonging to the police Force.
Weeks passed, everyday they will train 2 hours before started working and Kurenai progress surprised even the instructors.
Though she lacked the reserves of a shinobi, her precision and control were impressive.
One afternoon, Uchiha Shinobu gathered the group by the training wall.
"Alright everyone, today's lesson, chakra control on vertical surfaces. Stick your chakra to your feet and walk up the wall. If you fall, we'll catch you… maybe," he joked lightly.
The civilians laughed nervously.
Kurenai looked up at the wall towering before her. "Walk on the wall…? That's insane."
Shinobu crossed his arms. "Insane is relative. For a shinobi, this is a warm-up. For you, it's your next step."
She took a deep breath and pressed her foot to the wall. At first, nothing happened. Then she tried again, focusing her chakra downward as taught.
Her foot stuck and she lifted the second one.
A few steps later, she froze mid-wall. "Captain, I think I'm going to...."
She slipped but a quick gust of wind and a blur of movement caught her.
An Uchiha genin standing nearby grinned. "You were doing great until you overthought it."
Shinobu nodded. "Exactly. Don't think too much. Trust your chakra."
As the others practiced, Kurenai sat on the ground, smiling faintly. She never imagined that one day, she could use chakra.
Now, she was part of something greater.
Meanwhile, the change within the Police Force went beyond training grounds.
Patrols now included mixed squads each led by one Uchiha, acting as captain.
These Uchiha were handpicked, they choose someone who had empathy and fair judgment. So they can become fair in training new recruit.
On one sunny afternoon, Captain Uchiha Renji led his team consisting of a Yamanaka, an Aburame, and two civilian recruits through the streets of Konoha.
"Alright, team," said Renji, scanning the area. "We'll start our patrol from the west market district and loop back through the riverbank. Keep your eyes open for disputes, pickpockets, or anything suspicious."
"Yes, Captain!" they responded in unison.
As they walked, a merchant waved at them. "Ah, Police - sama! Thank you for catching that thief last week!"
Renji smiled politely. "Just doing our duty. How business today?"
"Better than ever! People say the new police force is fairer now."
Renji nodded slightly, hiding a small smile. "That's good to hear."
After the merchant left, they continued patrolling down the street, and the villagers nodded respectfully as they passed.
The new recruit just enjoying it and did their work, but for the Uchiha Renji, it meant everything.
For decades, their clan had been feared and misunderstood. Now, step by step, that image was changing because they recruit new people to the police Force.
He still remembered some people from Uchiha Clan rejected outright to hire civillian, he choose to be silent because the clan leader and elders had agreed to hire them.
Now it is proven right, the reason why Uchiha afraid and hates them is because they misunderstood Uchiha Clan. Civillian no longer feel afraid when meeting Uchiha Clan but instead become closer to them.
