When will the world be destroyed?
For most people, they've never thought about this question, and even if they have, they probably expect there to be some kind of sign first.
But sometimes, the destruction of the world happens without any warning.
Just like now.
Duanmu Huai walked down the street, hands in his pockets, humming a tune. Around him, the smooth road was as usual, but everything else had already changed its appearance. Houses were covered in flesh, wires pulled into the air had turned into twisted, organ-like things. The sky was a bright red, and as far as the eye could see, the whole world seemed to have turned into the inside of a gigantic organism.
This reminded Duanmu Huai of an animated series he had seen before which personified the cells inside the human body. In that series, cells worked, lived, supplied nutrients, and maintained the human body's survival in a manner similar to humans. And now this world seemed like a real version of that animation.
