For investigators, one of the most troublesome environments they face is being outnumbered.
For instance, when an investigator ventures alone or with a few companions to conduct an investigation, only to find that everyone in that place has become believers of an Evil God, or even corrupted into deformed monsters. The entire place is occupied and sealed off by these monsters, and the investigators are outmatched, either captured by the locals as sacrifices or forced to rely on stealth, lockpicking, and luck to sneak away from this perilous place.
However, just like how all problems boil down to energy issues, all the dangers investigators face ultimately come down to four words — lack of firepower.
