Mauve stood with her right hand underneath her stomach as the main entrance of the castle opened. He had told her to stay in their room, but Mauve didn't listen. She had argued that it was only right that the only human in the castle would welcome the new guests, and Jael didn't have a counterargument.
She stood next to Jael as the first humans arrived, instinctively clinging to him. She didn't know what to expect as the doors opened; all she knew was what Jael had told her from Louis's letters.
She did know the number of humans who were expected to spend probably the next couple of months in the Vampire Regions was about ten—the ones Louis could train fast enough to face Palers.
Five humans stepped through the open doors. They looked uneasy as they walked in, immediately looking around. They clearly couldn't see very well, and when their gaze rested on Mauve and Jael, who stood right in front of them, they stopped walking and stood awkwardly.
