Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Meeting with strange person

Bai's here. A few weeks after I was given the name Bai, I am feeling spirited for some reasons that can't be explained. I don't even know why but the name gives me a feeling of something. That old man Klaus...

--------------------------+----------------------------+-----------------------

Year 46xx, Area 90111

Bai. A young man at the age of 12. His black hair had fusion completely with a silver color, one of the eyes had six circles while the other had lines similar to radar. Wearing light clothes, this man had already been lost in the desert for almost two days. With his soul crystal, Rei he was now...

"AHHHHHH!!!!"

"Calm down, Bai. Hope is not l-"

"Don't you dare finish that word..."

Bai glared sharply at Rei as he was still wondering about the desert and while he turned back on the path he took...The footsteps were quickly gone.

He sighs. He wonders how he even got stuck here with food worth for two days...but thankfully there were a lot of monsters along the way so there's no shortage of food. The problem is...

"..."

"..."

Bai and Rei stare blankly at the wriggling worm in front of them as they see the same monster for over two days. The only monster they met was the big firespike worm. The worm had a giant body, full of spikes that were coated with fire. At first, it was exciting. Days went by, they started to get sick of the worm, and thus their reaction to seeing the never-ending worm in front of them.

"AH!!!!!!!! I'm sick of worms!!!!!"

"Calm down. We can s-"

Bai immediately put his hand on Rei's mouth. He is tired of seeing the same shit. Killing the worm now feels like killing an ant for him. He creates a sword made of sand and immediately dashes forward while slicing the worms with multiple slashes.

"Ha..."

Bai sigh while staring blankly at the fallen worm parts when suddenly, his eyes saw something weird. Rei noticed it too and immediately pointed her finger toward the direction.

"Hey, is that a person?"

"I can see that. There's no hope for that person already"

"...But"

"I know. I know. You want me to save him right? As I said, he should be eaten already by the wo-"

Bai notices something. The firespike worm had acid in its body. That's why they can spit acid toward their enemy. But this person...Is not corroded. Rather, the body looks fully intact.

Bai runs toward the place where the man falls and concludes that the person survives inside the worm's body. The man had a slim body, with his blonde hair kept to the side. A handsome face that makes Bai want to kick his face.

Unfortunately for Bai, the story of the man doesn't end there. He wakes up a few hours later during the night, only to see Bai dragging him by his leg like a sack. He was baffled by how he was treated as luggage.

"Bai, turn around. He wakes up already"

"Oh?"

Bai turned around and saw him waking up. He made the most fake smile he can afford and asked him, "So, you are awake bastard?"

Bai released his feet when he saw the man blank's face. He stopped walking for a moment and throw cooked worm meat to him.

"Eat it. This is the only food I can offer."

"..."

Bai then prepared to set up a place to rest while the man silently took the food and eat the worm meat. Bai used his hand and create a motion of opening space and took out a blanket, a few pieces of wood, and a kettle from his space inventory, which then he closed back.

Bai creates fire by pointing his finger to the woods, preparing a foothold for boiling water and cooking meat that he creates using sand, and covering himself with a blanket. The man silently watched Bai with an amazing feeling.

The night went silent as the only sound occurring was a fire crackling from the woods. Bai sat silently, watching the fire as the man started to open his mouth, "Hey, young man. Thank you for the food."

The wind goes more coldly at night in the desert and Bai only nodded a few times before staring back at the fire. The man opened his mouth again, "My name is Hermes, and thank you for saving me."

Bai, remains silent for a while before turning his head toward Hermes.

"I am given the name Bai and your gratitude is meaningless to me. I just coincidentally saved you while killing the worm."

"Haha. That's harsh."

Hermes took a look at Bai and felt that this young man had an aura that says 'Don't approach me'. he knows that with one look at Bai, he was extremely aloof. He smiled a bit and started to initiate a conversation with Bai.

"So, are you local?"

"No"

"How old are you?"

"Forgotten"

"Where are you from?"

"Doesn't remember"

"Why are you alone here?

"It's because I am alone."

"..."

Failed. Hermes thought it was so hard to initiate and Bai was a quiet and aloof person. A person with this tendency most likely harbors big secrets and naturally, Hermes wanted to know them. So, he planned to make Bai talk more but failed. Now, he needs to make Bai feel that he is trustworthy before he can start to fish out the stuff he wants.

And that's what Bai had anticipated. Hermes is said to be a messenger. Someone that travels a lot and most importantly a prankster. He smirked a bit and both started to initiate their mind game.

Hermes took the first move by making eye contact but then...

" I have one question. How do you survive the acid inside the firespike worm?"

Bai launched the first attack. Hermes stifled for a moment and calmed himself first. He had expected this question.

He took a breath and wanted to answer before he was once again interrupted, "It's because of your shoes right?"

Hermes could only blink while Bai kept on talking.

"Hermes. The messenger of Greek. Someone that plays pranks often and also likes to travel. Isn't that right?"

Speechless, Hermes could not even say a word but he doesn't give up. He tried to feign ignorance while making a fake laugh.

"Haha. Messenger of Greek? Play pranks? No no. I am a normal person that likes to travel but I don't know any of the terms that you have said. My shoes were an artifact I received from my family. That's how I could survive inside the worm's body."

'How's that?', Hermes thought and was proud of that comeback before getting countered by Bai.

Bai smiled and chuckled a bit.

"Is that so...I am sure of it since my eyes can see it all"

Bai's left eye then glows and six circles emerge and turn by themselves into the third circle before entering his eye again.

--------------------------+----------------------------+-----------------------

Flashback

Seeing Hermes states, Bai's left eye began to glow and six circles emerged. The circles started to turn and stopped at the third circle before entering his eye again.

"...Hmmm. I see."

The third circle changes Bai's left eye into The Eye of Knowledge, which Bai can instantly know everything in the direction he is seeing.

This time, Bai used The Eye of Knowledge to get the information of the man instantly getting Hermes information.

That's how Bai knows Hermes' thinking and attitude.

--------------------------+----------------------------+-----------------------

Hermes blinked a few times since he was still in disbelief at what he saw. He was baffled and thought it was absurd.

Bai, knowing his thought instantly sent out the finishing move, "You don't believe me do you? Then, your height is 15-"

"STOPPPPPPP!!!"

Hermes quickly stops Bai from saying another number. For him, height is a taboo topic. So, he doesn't have any choice other than to acknowledge Bai's eye abilities.

"Fine, you win. You are correct. I am Hermes from Greek mythology. Now that you know about me, tell me about yourself."

Hermes thought he had nailed that one with a perfect reason to know Bai but in reality...

*Snoring*

"..."

Bai had already gone to sleep. 'Damn it', Hermes thought. Then, he saw a piece of cloth near him. He picked it up and it turned out to be a blanket.

It seems that Bai brought out two pieces of blanket. He smiled a bit and started to sleep too.

"What a weird young man..."

He went to sleep while thinking that he found a good young man. Bai then opened his eyes a little bit and closed them again. The cold wind that night had erased their fire and both of them had slept through the night.

--------------------------+----------------------------+-----------------------

Next morning

His eyes open slowly as the sun rises. He, Hermes wakes up slowly and turned to Bai's sleeping spot only to see an empty spot. Along with some worm meat and water, there seems to be a piece of paper beside it,

Ciao, my friend.

Bai

Hermes grinned widely since he got Bai to admit him as a friend. Even if he doesn't get the information he wants, at least he gets to make a friend. A friend that could change the future.

Just then, someone came down from the sky toward Hermes. That person went near him and stopped.

"Father"

It was Hermes's daughter, Angelia. With her yellowish-white hair, small face, petite body, and the temperament of an angel, she greeted Hermes.

"Angelia. You are late."

Angelia felt remorse and guilt since she picked up her father later than expected. She expected Hermes to give her a beating but she saw him smiling.

"Even though you picked me up late it is a good thing."

"???"

Angelia felt weird. Since her father rarely smiles genuinely, it means he found something interesting.

"Did you find something interesting, father?"

"...Yes. An interesting young man"

Hermes then went back with Angelia to Greek mythology. He felt that this trip was worth the difficulty of traveling to an area he doesn't know. This coincidence meeting between Bai and Hermes undoubtedly created a twist of fate intertwined between these myths and the involvement of Bai. (A/N: Hermes doesn't know that planets are referred to as an area)
