The celebration at Golden Shine was scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Grace had expected a small gathering with the employees and a few regular customers, but Amber had clearly made other plans.
When Grace arrived at the store with Samuel, she found a decorated entrance, a table full of refreshments, and several familiar faces waiting inside. A small banner announcing Golden Shine's upcoming expansion had been placed near the counter.
Grace stopped at the entrance and looked at Amber. "What is all this?"
Amber smiled proudly. "A celebration. You said you wanted to expand the store, so I thought we should celebrate before you become too busy to remember us."
"That's not how it works."
"It is today."
Samuel stood beside Grace, looking around the store. "She has put quite a lot of effort into this."
"Don't encourage her," Grace said, though she was smiling.
