Kerry nodded.
Her face was slightly flushed, and there were a few red spots on her neck. Although the events of last night were passion-driven, her bodily reactions were purely instinctual.
Emmett Jamison naturally noticed her neck too, and his ears turned red.
"Last night—" I drank too much.
"I know." Kerry interrupted him, quickly explaining, "You never liked me, and I took advantage of a situation. I won't make you take responsibility. I simply like you, although this method might have been a bit unscrupulous."
"I'm sorry."
She had already said what Emmett intended to, leaving the man awkwardly sitting across from her. It was clearly a mistake made by two, yet in the end, a woman was taking the blame alone.
This left Emmett feeling at a loss.
"Actually, I am at fault too, this matter—"
He couldn't bring himself to say the words "End it here."
Before they got involved, Emmett had turned her down many times, but now he saw himself as a heartless man.
